Any one still doubt about the viability of Chinese helicopter industry should see this slick Avicopter promo video. Very extensive industrial base with 20000 employee and facility spread over the country

Wait at minute 7:36 I thought I saw Z19 with millimeter radar anyone can confirm it!
Pretty slick marketing video, but doesn't address the biggest shortcoming of aeroengines. The million-dollar question is can China's aviation industry produce world-class aeroengines in time to fulfill the Made in China 2025 mission?

World class? who knows? Perhaps not. But perfectly serviceable engines giving 90% of the performance of comparable leading western engines? Probably.

davidau,

it's not that I don't appreciate these sort of posts, but you're not exactly adding anything new to the discussion in the given forums by posting a few pictures and some basic facts that can be found in a simple search.

These threads are generally for new developments, info, rumours, pictures, or questions, and they're not for posting "fact files". Certainly a thread called "PLAAF Breaking News" is not suited for posting a few pictures of Z-8 and a few historical facts that basically everyone knows.

As you may be aware there are other contributors that showed some "not- so- new" pictures. I didn't see you commenting on them. You are a senior member and with years of experience, it would be useful if you could point out to what web they appear on, preferably with pictures, instead of innuendo and criticising. You will possibly deter others from contributing. I am not here to collect brownie points, rather I try to contribute but never intentionally on my part to put "not-so-new" photos...Readers normally don't want to go to 'search web' to find out the facts, I for one.

At that moment I posted those photos I couldn't' locate the correct site on the forum . My apology.. Could you please help how to go to a site one wants...that would be extremely useful and less annoying...

I am also conscious that not too many readers are familiar with the historic facts. I wanted to inform the interested readers.. I detailed them to highlight the historic pains & struggles over the past two decades that have gone through the PLANF, and PLA as a whole due to embargo on importing up- to- date equipment. I'm not sure other readers on this forum are as knowledgeable or are having such a good memory as yours, though.

Indeed the latest Z-8s are doing extremely well with Chinese avionics, equipment and weapons on board....and going about their business with flying colour..

Respectfully

If you want to post say, a "fact file" then you can look up the relevant thread.

For example, you wrote one about the Z-8, then if you really wanted you could post it in the Z-8 thread, here: https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/z-...pter-family-versions.t7156/page-8#post-425944.
And also, if you do post a "fact file" type post in a given thread, please also do us the favour of saying something like "this is a fact file for Z-8, about it's brief history for those interested etc".

Sometimes I post pieces from my own website as well in relevant threads, but I always make sure to start it off with a "hey, so this is a write up from my website about XYZ topic" just because it is better etiquette.

This is a forum with people who are mostly aware of the given "basic facts" of the various systems, which are usually quite searchable online. If anyone has questions the community is generally receptive and happy to answer them, but posting those "basic facts" out of the blue in a given thread (especially an off-topic thread) is just disconcerting and may interrupt the flow of that thread's conversation as well.

I moved the Z-8-related post ... they simply don't fit into the "news-section" !

Look like first flight of Z15 any confirmation. PLAN need a modern and roomy medium 8ton class Marine helicopter to take charge for ASW duty. finally we have news of WZ 16.Plenty of room for sonobuoy, sonar computer ,operator etc
If this indeed first flight a great day for Avicopter. From Odo soldier
