That makes more sense than something like 14.5mm. Otherwise even dismounted infantry would have the same range as the helicopter...

A 14.5mm is a pretty big weapon and most attack choppers have armor ratings up to 20mm. It could do some damage but it's not likely to be a weapon for infantry dismounts. The more common 12.7mm class or below tend to be infantry weapons. 14.5mm generally would be vehicle mounted.
