Now this missile supposed to have 6 km range can they aim that long using opto electric fire control only? I don't recall Z 10 has radar though Z19 has millimeter radar
TL2? I though the predecessor was TL10 for Air to Surface missile

The new Air-Ground TL-2 missile for helicopter or drone, developed by CASC 4th with a range of 6 km and an accuracy of 2 to 10 m.

Apparently the 3 x Z10 that were deployed to Pakistan have been returned

Feed back was not great and I don't think PA will be ordering

Think issues were overall handling and performance

Hopefully both party's could ensure feed back is digested and actioned to improve future collaboration

Looks like T-129 is now solid candidate for PA

Unfortunate but not unexpected. The Z-10 is literally China's first ever attempt at a dedicated attack helicopter designed from scratch and we already have to thank our lucky stars that it turned out well and not a total disaster like the J-8I. It would really be unreasonable to expect the Z-10, China's first dedicated attack helicopter, to not only succeed on the first try, but also comprehensively exceed the performance of a design made by experienced world-class helicopter designers. It would be great if it did, but completely fair if it didn't; can't really be mad at the universe for that.

Absolutely, and that is part of the learning

Z-10 is a fantastic helo and just because it didn't fit the protocol, strategy and environment of PA does not take anything away from the unit itself

When the Apaches first arrived in the Middle East back in 1990s they were plaqued with problems, iteration after iteration they refined the model to get to where they are now, because AH-64 was really for open plains of Europe

In the high dry and hot environments of Western Pakistan Z10 I am guessing faced the same issues and rather than starting a lengthy process of modifications and refinement its easier to pick alternative when others opinions are available

Close to 200 Z-10 are in service, do we expect a new variant, better than the current one in the near future?

Although unfortunate, I think this is actually a good sign. It shows that the PAF is not blindly accepting whatever the Chinese throw at them. They have a very high standard for the kinds of equipment they acquire. This would imply that the Chinese equipment already in service with the PAF is of high quality. With access to western, Russian and Chinese systems, the Pakistanis have plenty options. When they choose Chinese systems, they do it because of high quality and reasonable prices, with a dose of politics of course.

Well, I am pretty sure PLA is reasonably happy with Z-10, otherwise they wouldn't order that many (over 200 so far). The focus of Z-10 is I believe was for China condition and PLA requirements, which may not be the same in Pakistan and the requirements for PAF ... so, no, I don't think Z-10 is a failed helo nor the best helo in the world. The main issue with Z-10 is I believe the engine WZ-9 which is somewhat under power, but once WZ16 is ready, Z-10 will be one of the best attack helo out there
