yitian and type 95 aa which one is better to produce

Well i was wondering, yitian have 8 TY-90missile and it has a range of 6~8 km and the type 95 have only 4 with QW-2 which only have a max range of 6 km with 4 cannon. Some source that yitian was armed with AA MG just like the american humvee. The thing that was bothering me is that will type-95 production stop since the price tag would be higher than the yitian??

since we don't know the cost of the systems, but we know that type-95 is a armoured vehicle and on tracks compare to yitian which could be towed, mouned on system the the 6x6 and the new chinese humvee.

would it be better to prduce the yitian??

Well the Type 95 would be much more mobile on any form of rough terrain, which is a huge advantage even if it comes at a much higher price. As it is all other vehicles have a lot of trouble keeping up with tanks advancing cross-country, and a wheeled vehicle just couldn’t be assured of maintain its position. Ideally the Type 95 would be produced to provide air defense to armored and mechanized formations, while the cheaper Yitian is produced and deployed with Chinese infantry divisions which have not been mechanized, a great many still exist.

If China will do that I don’t know. But you might notice that the US Army doesn’t exactly spend a lot of money on ground based air defenses (other then ABM systems) but it still deploys two different air defense vehicles to protect frontline troops. It has the tracked Bradley Linebacker for its armored formations, while light infantry get the hummve mounted Avenger system. Both systems use the same Stinger missiles as their main weapon.

but the thing is, the us uses the bradley which is much more versatile, but look at type-95, we need to specifically build a chasis for it, where yitian can be put on the 6x6 armoured vehicle which has mobility too.

the chasis is the same one as the type 89 SPATG and one of the SPA.

I'd venture to say that the TW-90 is superior to the QW-2, as the -90 is an actual air to air missile with a large payload to destroy helocopters. Besides, QW-2 is pretty old.

I don’t think the costs of building an extra chassis are very significant for China, especially if they’ve already started production. The mobility of wheeled vehicles meanwhile, is good, until you run into soft terrain, then they bog down like all hell. There are quite often conditions, which wheeled vehicles simply cannot pass, but tracked armor can. The US Army at one point ran a Stryker and an M113 down an obstacle course, and the M113 ended up spending most of its time pulling the Stryker out of the mud.

The Type 95 is built on the common Chassis 321 (present on type 89 SPATG, 83 SPH, 89 MRLS, etc)
It is dedicated and more expensive.
But when using its guns, the vehicle is operating at a lower cost.
If I am right, it is using less less money even when using the QW-2.

Now for the TY, it is heavier, but has a longer range(?) and a bigger warhead.
The towing part is rather irrelavant though, but it is true that it is adaptable to many vehicles. Nothing says it can't be fitted onto a track vehicle.

But you certainly can't have a man take off a missile from the TY and man launch it. It'll give him a bruise supposively. (2+kg more) Is there even a man launcher?
While you can do so with the QW-2.

(Now why didn't they just produce a heli-variant of the QW-2 for the Z-9s and 10s?)

didnt they build the ty-90 missle for z-9s?http://www.sinodefence.com/missile/airlaunched/ty90.asp

seeing how china's attempting to reflect much american design in its organization and fielding of forces, its probably going to use both. on paper, it may seem useless to operate two kinds of fighters serving a similar role, but reality says other wise. same with this.

i supposes when your fighting helicopters, having a gun would always be useful. as vietnam shows, never put all your faith in missles. (britain ought to learn that...i mean cancelling the eurofighter's gun??!!)

I am pretty sure that yitian will have guns on it. There is a picture of it mounted (I think) on a 6x6 vehiccle picture in the Yitian part of the site here. I have to agree with 2 system 2 operation part.

About the qw2 being removed from the type95, is it possible to be removed by hand with ease??? and would the system work when removed (i mean is the launcher's seeker in place.
