Yemen Crisis/Conflict & the "Decisive Storm" Coalition

Have you heard of the style of the Saudi air-campaign? like targeting buildings of the World Heritage Site etc., something I found loathsome, while "involved in conflicts on multiple fronts and need the flexibility to shift focus on multiple priorities"

Saudis may have the best equipment $ can buy but their CnC structure, their professionalism and training leave much to be desired.

And what about their strategic insight?

Dunno... I can only comment on things I am fairly certain is true based on what I now HOWEVER if I have to hazard a guess they are in disarray in terms of strategic initiatives and policies.

IMHO The house of Saud is in a disastrous predicament and trying to either placate or fight everyone and everything but with no clear objective and directions akin to a chicken with it's head cut off.

In a nutshell, on one hand they NEED to ally with the US for economic/military purposes (and US pressure to be quite honest) and also as a counter balance to Iran but on the other their overall agenda does not fit in well with US foreign policies. On the cultural side their brand of belief (Salafist/Wahabbism) is highly incompatible with Western values and majority of Saudis are also extremely anti US. In Saudi culture the Church (Sunni Mosque) = State. Not only is there no separation but it is just one entity.

All these variables play a crucial role in carving out their messy and ambiguous strategic goals and planning.

I never said they are admirable, just that they are not losing in Yemen. In many ways in addition to their conduct of war they behave in a very regressive manner that is not good for human progress.

my point has been Saudis are not winning despite their resources, for example

now I found the map below (on Twitter, comes from a group which seems to relatively accurately cover the conflict in Syria, so I doubt it's pure fan-art); if it was genuine, it would mean territorial LOSSES of the Saudi-led coalition at places ...

now I found a video which purports to show a Saudi M1A2S Abrams captured (intact?) INSIDE of Saudi Arabia, in

I am not too sure where should I put this news, but it is very important news ... and extremely interesting. Interesting whether Obama would veto it

Your saying that the side is "losing" which has control of the overall direction of the conflict, has the opposing side under siege, and can meaningfully bombard the opposing side at will sounds more like spin doctoring to me. In real life the lack of total victory does not equal losing.

Can the Saudi pull out tomorrow without having Hadi getting kick out again? A month from now? A year from now?
