What is Saudi spending all that money on ?
I don't recall them owning any capital ships.

The Saudis buy really good stuff...and quite a bit of it.

What are they going to spend more on?

- They are looking at buying several of Lockheed's higher end LCS designs...the ones with AEGIS. Those will not be cheep.

- They want to buy five German Type 214 subs...and probably double that number in the future.

- They are buying new F-15SAs, continuing the $30 billion dollar deal signed in 2011.

- They are buying Eurofighter Typhoon, continuing the £10 billion (almost $15 billion) deal. The first two were delivered in 2013.

- They are buying BAE Hawks, continuing a 2013 deal £1.9 billion ($3 billion) deal.

- They signed a multi-billion dollar deal with the US for Cyber security for their basses.

- They are upgrading their 315 M1A2 Abrams to the M1A2S standard, and buying 69 more.

etc., etc.

Lots and lots of money, buying good stuff.

Well, my numbers indicate that the Saudi Arabia Air Force combat aircraft (not including helos) will be:

152 -15E
080 F-15C
072 Typhoons
080 Tornados

That's 384 combat aircraft.

They will also have:

50 BAE Hawks
05 E-3A Sentry AWACS
05 KE-3A Tankers
05 KC-130J Tankers
03 RE-3 Recon
30 C-130J Transports
06 L-100-30 Transports

That's another 124 military aircraft.

That's a total of 508 principle military aircraft an there is a possibility that they will buy another 72 Typhoons.

But this thread is supposed to be about budgets...so let's not get too far off topic.

Germany have befores at least Tornados and Britain today and Italy have Tornado. But it's history soon in Britain and Italy they go for F-35 and maybe Eurofighter and Gripen E for Britain. But not enough. France gonna gets down with Rafale little bit of then Mirage-2000 left by 130-140.

I will this formation air crafts in world in 2020's.:

1.China - 1500 - biggest strenght I will.
2.Russia - 1100 - Many great Sukhoi + PAK-50.
3.USA - 900 - F-15SE, F-22 and Super Hornets.
4.India - 500
5.Iran - 450
6.Egypt - 400
7.S.A. - 384 - Big strenght by big 1st force of 233,500 soldiers last 4-5 year.
8.Japan - 323 - Truely, maybe.
9.Pakistan - 300 - my dream formation with Pakistan.
10.France - 250 - Truely, maybe.

 :D

Where did you catch the idea that the UK might get Gripen E in the future? They have their Typhoons which get continuous upgrades and they await the F-35B. There's simply no resources (money) left for yet another type. Besides, there's no place for a Gripen, IMO, besides the two other jets. The UK will be just fine with those two.

I also do not see the US going ahead with F-15SE buys. The navy probably will get some advances Super Hornet upgrades later. But I believe the airforce will stick to the F-35.

In the UK the last Tornado will leave active service in early 2019 I think. I don't know about Italy. In Germany there could be 10 years of service life remaining.
