Around 1:30 AM in the morning of June 27th there was a collision between a tanker, the Marshall Islands-flagged MT STI Pamlico, and a Cruise ship, the Maltese flagged MV Celestyal Crystal, in the Dardanelles strait near Gallipoli, Turkey.

The tanker, which is double hulled, has a dead weight of over 38,000 tons and said to be caring 30,000 tons of flamable naphtha at the time.

The crusie ship, which has about a 3,000 ton dead weight, but a full displacemetn of almost 15,000 tons, had 852 passengers and 382 crew aboard at the time.

Despit significant damage to the bow of the cruise ship, there were no injureies aboard. The cargo ship suffered significant damage directly amidships, and took on a fifteen degree list,. There were also no injuries on the cargo ship. Both vessels were taken to port for repairs.

I read from the internet that the full moon this Friday was a blue moon because there were two full moons in the same month; however, we didn't even see a moon due to bad weather, let alone a blue one.
