New side armor for Thai M60A3. It looks like effective against RPG but not armor piercing sabot rounds.

Some decent pictures of the Canberra exercising with S-70B helos, MRH-90 helos, and with her landing craft:

In that last picture you can see the two Mk38 Mod-2 25mm auto cannons on the aft end of the vessel. I imagine there are at least two more of those somewhere forward, one on each side...and probably also six to eight 12.7mm (.50 caliber) machine guns.

I know our friends from down under are enjoying seeing this. Very capable vessels coming into service for the RAN.

See a lot more Canberra and Adelaide pictures at my:

Islamic militants used a TOW type anti-tank missile to strike an Egyptian Coast Guard Patrol boat today.

The Egyptian vessel struck appears to be a 26m (85ft long) Egyptian Coast Guard Patrol Boat built by Swiftsure. Such a vessel is a fast patrol craft and displaces 60-65 tons, and is lightly armed with maybe machine guns and perhaps a single 25mm cannon at best. Nothing really capable of intercepting such a missile.

We can see from the photos that this vessel's superstructure appeared to burn down to the main deck. But with 5 water tight compartments it is probably not in danger of sinking.

Pics of this attack on the small patrol boat:

Look like the ship was badly damaged. did it sink?
No. It was badly damaged above the main deck...but that is essentially the main deck house/bridge. The vessel has five watertight compartments and none of them were violated.

This occurred off the coast of the northern Sinai. Apparently this Egyptian Coast Guard patrol boat was exchanging fire with militants ashore when the militants launched what looked like a Kornet ATGM. Militants claiming allegiance to the Islamic State took credit.

Egypt says there were injuries but no fatalities.

ISIS has indicated for a good while to be operating in the Sinai.
