No need to worry about the Windows 10. I am a Mac guy! :p:D:eek:
Hehehe...my wife and I both have our iPads for any web research, movies/entertainment, reading, etc.

If necessary we could move over I suppose. Way back when we started out with the Apple II, then the Apple IIe, and then the initial Macs. But with our own business, and then my doing a lot of commercial work at home in consulting, there simply were too many apps on the PC and so we have been on PCs since about Windows 2.1!

But we jumped right into the iPads when they first came out and have been using them (and upgrading) since.

Yep, one of the weaknesses of Mac is lack of software support. Although all my personal computers are Mac's, we have to use PC for almost all of our equipment. None of the companies providing us with the equipment has their software in Mac OS. This is a major hassle since I have to switch between Mac and PC all the time. The formatting is messed up all the time. With that said, the quality of the Mac is undeniable. My iMac is 6 years old and still works like a charm. That kind of lifespan is unthinkable for a PC.

And I think it is a conspiracy that Microsoft intentionally makes their Mac OS Office problematic so that people will be forced to switch to PC.

I find that it's never a question of computers still working after 6 years, but rather if it's still useful or not. I have a Dell PC from 2003 that still works fine, just don't expect it to be very useful, lol. In fact, I'll wager my old 486 SX will still work, assuming I knew what my parents did with it, lol.

I tried a macbook once. Bought it from Costco to take advantage of their return policy. I just couldn't get past the fact that the close window buttons were on the right side, and the fact that I needed to learn a new key combination for tasks like copy and paste.

I love my iPad mini, but I absolutely loathe iTunes. I can load songs onto my Galaxy S3 in a few seconds. My wife spent hours trying to get songs onto her iPhone 6.

That's what I mean. My iMac is still my main computer for work. I still do most of the heavy data analysis on it. I also have a 2-year old MacBook Pro, which I use at home/on the road for work. There is barely any difference between the two Macs. And my data analysis is heavy work. I'm talking about analyzing electron microscope images, each of which is about 1-2 GB. And I have thousands of images to analyze.

The key combo is so much more convenient once you get used to them. You don't even have to move your hands a lot once you begin to use those key combos. You can open/close/move things without moving your hands. If you connect a mouse to it, you can set up your mouse to behave just like a PC mouse.

On Windows 10, the right click to reach that option is still there. I also can't follow the logic of the question, so I can't answer it.

To clarify, the search brings up the Resolution setting, before they even finish typing the word. Typing as far as "resol" is enough, though the user can finish typing out the entire word if they want. It is quite intuitive. :) . Hopefully that clears things up.

Oh I see. I haven't been using Help for quite some time as it usually led me to nowhere.

Good to hear Microsoft haven't been sparing in return for giving Windows 10 free. ;)

Isn't it? Everyone was worried about some kind of subscription plan. Maybe the next version of Windows. :) .

Minor point, but the it's the "Search", not the "Help". I never use the "Help" either, for the same reason you said. But the search works great, and has since Vista.

I have always thought the Search function is actually part of the Help function in that they both search the Help library.

I now suspect they are different, with the Search algorithm written to response with a more direct and summarized answer compared to the Help function.

I upgraded to windows 10 last night. Only feels a bit different to windows 8, but all the differences are definitely positive. The new start menu is great and accidentally hitting the windows button won't bring up the massive full screen menu anymore (yay).
Task view and having multiple desktops is useful, and the new search function is handy too. Overall it feels a little faster.

Although for some reason my trackpad scrolling direction is now the opposite to what it was and my laptop doesn't have an option to reverse it... but I'll get used to it.

wondering how many people would upgrade from Win 7/8 to Win 10 if it wasn't free ... I am definitely not one of those (from Win 7) :p

That's why it is made free. I'm sure M$ is aware of this. If Win10 is not free, people simply just stick with their current OS. So only new PC will get Win10. M$ want to advertise their Win10 and they also want to get rid of old Windows. M$ only offer free upgrade to those who might not upgrade to new OS if not free (get the market), and who doesn't have an OS yet still have to buy one (get the money). They don't lose anything. It's a win-win strategy and they can do a big advertise to their new OS too. At least, it's the first M$ Windows being discuss intensively in our forum.
