C&C general is a really crappy games, it has nothing to do with military decision making in real life, you just click your mouse at the frequency of up to 50 MHz/s and see the explosions, anyone who likes it should be flogged with a wet towel until his arse is red and swollen.

That is why I like Rome total war. I takes actual skill and tacticaal as well as strategic planning. you cannot execute a flanking manuever in C&C. In C&C it doesn't matter if you set up a staggered battle line or a straight one, or if you are positioned on the high ground, or if your troops have high morale. In RTW it does, which is why I like it. It is much more realistic than any other strategy game I know. It lets you test your skill it replicas of battles that were fought by Hannibal, Julius Caesar, and lots of other historical figures.

I've done C&C once, and it is basically just age of empires with nukes and tanks.

I myself want to really try Rome: Total War. Being a history buff, that sort of game looks really good.

But the game I really want to get is Blitzkrieg 2. Anybody hear anything on that?

never heard about bliz 2.. but rome is totally mind blowing. the tactics you can use in there is just swt. different tactics actually have different results on the troops and enemy. i can win a battle of 500 vs 2000 and not take a single casulty if i play it out right. the game is just brilliant. the history of it is not as actuate, but it's close enough to the real thing. it's good that there's so many fraction you can play, especially since they pretty much all have completely different units (except for the roman ones, they have the same). i pretty much beat the game with like 6 fractions already... too addictive.. problem is, i don't know how you set it up to conquer the whole map, once i conquer maybe 60% of the map, they tell me i win and can't continue anymore.

The main campaign requires you to conquer 50 provinces and control Rome. So I guess you could always leave taking out Rome and the other Roman factions to the end.

ooo.. that's how it works.. i always take out italy pretty soon in the game since it's in the middle of the map, very strategic place, so i guess that's why i can never conquer the whole place.

actually, that's not possible. you're gonna have some casualty no matter what, even if you use archers and the enemy just stand there let you shoot them, you're still gonna have casualties because the archers in the back of the formation can sometimes hurt those in the front (yes, very annoying). but it's just that it doesn't show on the final stat page.

anyone have any idea where i can find a fix to my glitch? im playing julii and there's a glitch that would close the game everytime i click end turn, so basically i cannot proceed anymore. i've heard it's a glitch having to do with the year im in (forgot which year im in tho).

PS: a full stack of berserkers and pwn a full stack of urban cohorts
PSS: anyone tried Act of War Direct Action? it's very similar to C&C Generals and im playing it right now. it has a way better single player campaign and better graphics.

That strategy should work. The 3 Roman factions have the most powerful military after all. They are also closely allied, so war with one means war with all.

ya, but i usually attack them pretty early in the game, even if i have troops of lesser quality, the computer is dumb even in hard mode, so i can just outsmart them and win battles easily.

I prefer to leave the other Roman factions alone in the early going and let them power up (esp. Brutii). It's nice to look forward to a big showdown late game.
