note to Hong Kong Police: Please beat the sh*t out of these useless scumbags and do HK society a favor. Don't hold back because of the fear of being labelled as ''anti democracy/freedom'' by the western press. You need to enforce the law and protect the public from these thugs.

Hong Kong Indigenous really should be reclassified as a terrorist organization and be dealt with accordingly along the likes of other extremist/separatist groups in China considering their actions and future plans. HK police are too restrained in their actions. The garrison might actually have something to do if this goes further.

As tempting as it seems to talk all this about crushing the anarchists and rioters, it's on the CCP to do so. It is also a trap to go and send the PAP in, never mind use the local garrison which is part of the PLA. Need I remind you all, that the PLA has guarantees from the CCP after said Square-that-I-cannot-mention, and are not to be used to quell civil unrest no matter how bad (short of civil war).

China has enemies certainly, and we'd only be playing right into their hands. Letting the rioters burn out and alienate the majority of the populace even more than the Umbrella protests ever did, is the best choice that I can see here imho. It is also consistent with previous Mainland dealings with such matters wrt HK. If the situation is so bad that the PAP is needed, let it be on the heads of the HK Government to call it in. This way, the intervention is beyond reproach no matter how much people may wish to spin it. And suffice to say, that the Chinese will have to do their own media war to try and balance out the narratives-starting with clear video evidence of the actual unrest (Anybody remember footage of the Police Commissioner being mobbed?)

Like I've said back in 2014, the anarchists has infiltrated into every single local university, and almost 2 years since, it has gone irreversibly worse because nobody wants to recognize such fact, that every university undergrads are anarchist and rioter, if not sympathiser to the terrorist cause.

Damn all those conspiracies, I say, for HK has gone straight to hell as we speak. Time to roll in the troops to straighten things out.

As an addendum (edit expired)....and OT

Mainland Chinese are already becoming disillusioned with the West, due to the ongoing bias and mixed reporting. A full scale (western) media blitz over rioters might well be the nail in the coffin of most (formerly) pro-west relations people. While relations need to obviously be maintained, the idea that certain countries are friends does not. By all means, please keep alienating the mainland population. Won't help in the long-run. Esp in a hypothetical war scenario sadly.

Wait wait wait; I just read the thing. It's much more clearly written here, in my opinion:

"Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year celebration descended into chaotic scenes as protesters and police, who fired warning shots into the air, clashed over a street market selling fish balls and other local holiday delicacies, leaving dozens injured and arrested."

"The unrest started when authorities tried to prevent unlicensed street food sellers from operating on Monday night in Mong Kok, a working-class district of the city."

These clashes started over illegal food stalls and police trying to shut them down?? What??

The food stalls was just the pretex. The police went to close down illegal street stalls, and hundreds of non-stall owners showed up and attacked the police.

It was a well-organised ambush that apparently caught the police off guard as they were expecting to just move some non-violent stall owners on with a few words and maybe a slap-on-the-wrist fine.

The rioters were waiting and ready for them.

While I agree that the HK police should have been far more robust in their response, the PAP and PLA are not going to get involved unless this escalates to full scaled armed insurgency.

The HK police will have to handle this themselves.

Time to send in a few MSS agents for some assassination assignments at those anarchist leaders.

These activists are doing a great job destroying Hong Kong on their own. Every now and then I still read comments in the news continuing the myth that Hong Kong is the pillar of China's economy. Do these activists believe that to which why they think they have China's economy to hold hostage to bargain with? Let them destroy Hong Kong on their own. Not only are they losing business from the Mainland but they're downgrading themselves with international business and finance. It does match the Arab Spring playbook. Find any discontent as an excuse...
