Bill Clinton
2005 -- Former Pres. Bill Clinton (D), speaking in Hong Kong, discussed UFOs, Roswell and Area 51: "The Roswell thing, I think, really was an illusion - I don't think it happened. I did attempt to find out if there were any secret government documents that reveal things, and if there were, they were concealed from me, too. I wouldn't be the first president that underlings have lied to or that career bureaucrats have waited out. But there may be some career

Ronald Reagan
1974 - California Gov. Ronald Reagan (R) was one of four people in a Cessna Citation plane who witnessed an unusual object that was a steady light which elongated and went from a normal cruising speed to a rapid acceleration. Reagan told the Wall Street Journal, "We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement, it went straight up into the heavens."

John F. Kennedy
1963 - Pres. John F. Kennedy (D) sent a memo to the head of the
CIA, seeking documents about UFOs, just 10 days before he was
assassinated. In a letter dated Nov. 12, 1963, JFK wanted a review of all UFO intelligence files that might affect national security. On the same day, Kennedy sent a separate memo to NASA, indicating he wanted to cooperate with the then-Soviet Union on outer space activities.

Article on new sweetener derived from Monk Fruit

the artificial sweetener used to make most Coca-Cola products, has been approved by both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Beverage Association, most health care professionals warn against heavy consumption of this sugar substitute. Now monk fruit, a melon cultivated by Buddhist monks at one time or another in certain types of China, is gaining popularity as a flavorsome and healthier alternative to aspartame.

reported. Its antioxidant and vitamin properties have made it a popular remedy for anything from a sore throat to diabetes, and its naturally sweetened flavor makes its dry form a practical ingredient for soups and teas. Manufacturers report that one gram of monk fruit extract is equal to eight teaspoons of sugar.

is leading the production of monk fruit-derived ingredients through a license obtained from Procter & Gamble. BioVittoria received the FDA’s Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) approval for its monk fruit concentrate product “Fruit-Sweetness” in 2010.

In its pure form, monk fruit is considered 300 times sweeter than sugar. According to BioVittoria’s website, Fruit-Sweetness is around 150 times sweeter than sugar. Fruit-Sweetness, marketed as “a truly natural, zero calorie, high intensify sweetener,” is currently the only product derived from monk fruit to receive the FDA’s GRAS approval.

Coca-Cola products are currently sweetened by stevia, a low-calorie sweetener that is “generally recognized as safe” by the FDA. Although stevia is considered a healthier option compared to the perceivably dangerous aspartame, it has also been criticized for its bitter taste. California-based

recently launched its brand of zero-calorie sodas, sweetened with a mixture of monk fruit extract and stevia.

"We feel like we've really cracked the code," Zevia CEO Paddy Spence told Reuters. "Using the two side by side, we were able to get a higher level of sweetness without the bitterness.”

Companies like BioVittoria and Zevia may be at the forefront of the monk fruit market, but there is one dilemma any potential manufacturer of this fruit will run into: a Chinese law that prevents monk fruit from being grown outside of the country. This combined with the intricate process involved with monk fruit extraction makes it a pricey commodity. With the continued decline of Coca-Cola sales, soft drink companies may have to pony up extra coin to afford this healthier alternative to the dreaded aspartame.

Read B.I.B's post above, the alternative sweeteners are worse to your health than sugar.

I drink seltzer mixed with a little of fruit juice when I'm craving for carbonated drinks most of the time now a days. But I almost drink pepsi exclusively for a few years until I realized how bad it could be for the body. ( Still does once in a long while when eating some food, and Pepesi really taste a little better than coke to me.):)

Yup, I'm aware of the rumors about aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. However, while there are research indicating that they make people feel more hungry than they really are, there is no substantiated evidence that they directly cause health problems.

Compare that to the mountains of evidence about the harmful effects of too much sugar intake, and I'll gladly choose a diet coke over a regular coke anytime.

Of course, that doesn't mean I would drink coke regularly, it is still junk food after all.

So that's why he was assassinated! :D

This is a classic example of American patent laws being utterly senseless and frankly, stupid.

How anyone could be able to patent the particular use of a natural fruit is frankly stupid.
