    Those are actually long handled cleaning brushes Jay, you wet them in the hot soapy water and the bristles remove caked on crud, such as oil soaked dirt that accumulates around jet fuel and other petroleum products.. the soap is an loosening agent along with the hot water, then you rinse it all off with water, sometimes with a pressure washer....

    The US Navy washes all aircraft every seven days because of the environment Naval aircraft operate..the ocean..
