Whole idea of "wall" reminds me of Panther–Wotan line in WW2 . Geographically it was relatively near to present front lines , and it too supposed to be "eastern border of Europe" .

Thud I didn't quite get why you brought Eastern Front here ... but I recently happened to see a short documentary about how Slovakia guards its very short border (97 km) with Ukraine: they invested into lots of electronic equipment, trained Army and Police members to be "invisible" etc. and it appears to work HOWEVER the intruders are smugglers or armless refugees together with people traffickers (who are armed for the case their clients asked their fee back :) and not to shoot it out with a squad like this one:

so you may tell us how Ukraine should guard its border against people who are crossing it to "liberate Ukraine from Kiev Junta"

I found this video a moment ago:
an Ukrainian journalist in the center of Donetsk asks -- in Ukrainian -- people if they wanted to be part of Ukraine; Russia; independent ... I didn't watch the first half of it as at first I thought it was some stupid joke LOL ... majority of those who I saw responding (some of them wouldn't talk to her, and a soldier said in Russian "I don't understand") would like to join Russia ... I assume the video is from yesterday, the occasion was some concert, but I didn't find the details yet as yandeks.ru is not working for me right now

to "liberate Ukraine from Kiev Junta"

Ukraine could not afford to be hostile to Russia, and maybe even could not survive that . It's a geographical, demographic and political truth. Only solution is to somehow attempt to reverse situation to something that was in January 2014 and power-sharing agreement between pro-Western and pro-Russian forces . It will be very hard , but alternative is grim and most likely bloody .
