Thanks in advance.
I second Jeff's question

To Jeff, Jura and anyone else interested:

The hangar on the T23 was designed from the start to take a folded Merlin, I had a wander round one at Portsmouth's Navy Days a few years back and those hangars are truly cavernous on the inside! (designed like the TARDIS). They, like the T45s can embark (and stow folded in the hangar) two Lynx/Wildcats or a single Merlin. The flight decks of the T45s go one step further, being sized and strengthened to handle a Chinook.

The previous class, the Type 22 had a double hangar to accommodate two Lynx helos, but from HMS Brave onwards, with a view to eventual embarkation of Merlins they were fitted with enlarged flight decks and taller hangars, embarking a single Sea King each or two Lynx as required for their current deployment. The Merlin takes up as much deck space as a Sea King and also folds down to a very manageable size:

There's folding and securing; most naval helos can fold their rotors in about a minute, but the whole process including unlocking the blades from the hub and securing them in the fully folded position is as Popeye says, around three minutes, That is fairly standard for all Naval helos with folding rotors. Don't forget they also usually fold the tail as well...33341447_10155338744221481_381182981789712384_o.jpg

On folding of rotor blades. I know USN helos rotor blades can be folded manually in about five minutes or less.
I happen to know folding an Osprey is incredibly fast Aug 16, 2018
sure the requirement to fold in 90 (ninety) seconds is justified, right?

actually out of several "game changers" (I think you know what programs I mean), the Osprey is the one I personally like, well I'm aware of its "widow-maker" label,

and stuff, but still think the US SF need this type of speed
