UK Military News, Reports, Data, etc.

LOL only now I perhaps see what you meant in
An interesting point regarding the economics of the F-35 for the UK, we are the only Tier 1 partner in the project, with a roughly 10% stake in it. The total buy projected for all customers is currently around the 3000 mark give or take. 10% of that would be around 300 aircraft, that's the value we are expecting to reap from the project, and yet we are only buying 138. So this aircraft will pay for itself twice over! ;)o_O:cool:
and in later posts: I'm guessing it was 'profit' as in
"the advantage or benefit that is gained from doing something"

while my English failed me (again :) and I kinda assumed 'profit' as in
"money that is made in a business, through investing, etc., after all the costs and expenses are paid : a financial gain"

which obviously wouldn't work: let's say one F-35 will be $100m on average, so it's $300b in total, your 10% UK share amounting to $30b turnover, but the margin is, well, Defense ... one third (?) so the UK gains $10 but will have to pay for those 138 copies :) ... hope you now see what I meant

EDIT
I tried to be subtle ... sorry if I wasn't

OBi Wan has been around her and pretty much knows. You are newer Southern.

Jura is pretty pro-western from my perspective...but he does like to play the devil's advocate as it were.

Fact is, the F-35 is going to prove to be one of the most innovative aircraft ever produced in mass numbers. And it is going to have a MASSIVE impact on war fighting into the future.

The nations getting in on it are going to derive tremendous benefit from it.

Now, that does not mean it does not have its own growing pains, it does. But when a nation like the US brings forward (and in this case with the help of its allies) such innovative, new technologies...you end up livening with the growing pains.

Sort of like risking taking down a bee hive and the stings to get at the honey inside.

The F-35 is that way. The F-22 was that way as was the B-2 (and in those cases, sadly our pols cut the orders to the point of ridiculousness, making ach individual aircraft more experience because the companies that build these things do not do so for free and they had ROIs to meet)...but then those same pols knowingly use their ugly little games to try and convince the public how senseless such expensive programs are.

In this case, I believe the F-35 is going to be far more than successful enough to get past that problem.

The ZUmwalt is another example, but in that case, depending nn this November's election, we still have a chance to get more of those hulls in the water...and we difintiely should.

Finally, as long as I brought Jura into this...hehehe...I will add that I finally believe that the end game with the LCS will be a good one too. We are going to build enough of those hulls, and the right thinking of naval technologists and experts has finally gotten through some of the mush to get their armament and crewing and modularization and other issues addressed enough so that we will get some fairly decent vessels ouit of both the Freedom and Independence variants.

Y'all sell tight now, and God's speed.

thank you, Jeff, as later I noticed the post from the individual (on my Ignore List) who perhaps confused North Korea 'held to account for this behavior' (quote from https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/uk-military-news-reports-data-etc.t2437/page-195#post-417937) with posting on a Western forum (ironically, also yesterday, another individual accused me of trolling
Chinese Economics Thread perhaps because of my reference to Mao (?) ... to go on, I won't bother with links), but this is not what I originally wanted to address, and I'm ready to get by this;

what I originally wanted to address is this: I'm totally pro-Western and pro-US in particular, to the point I went on occasions, in pubs and bars, into (just verbal LOL) fights over War on Terror, War in Iraq (2003), etc. supporting these events, and later on similar occasions "I was given back" Gitmo Prison, Abu Ghraib Prison and stuff ... on some of those occasions, I could only say the West, the US sometimes did foolish things; something similar has happened to certain military projects: pompously announced, presented with hubris and ... axed; that's why I look for real-world news (and only occasionally check vendors' claims), containing data, not only wishful thinking

of the projects you mentioned, I don't know how many will, and how many won't, become successful; which orders will be cut, which orders will be even increased! that's why I follow the news, and what I typically do is I post any reasonable article after I read it (no matter if some members will perceive its content as good or bad news: I give a damn about this part)

in one of my longest posts ever LOL (I rarely go above three or so sentences outside of https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/the-viribus-unitis-battleship-1-25-model-main-gun-turrets.t7810/) I hope I made my position clear, and I guess time will tell the rest

Yep Master Jura is my true-blue Bruda, and a fine Christian Man. He's on our side, just tries to keep us all real, and operating in the black, kinda like our Buddy Brumby??? where is that guy???? He is also a money--man, kinda like the HONEY BADGER, and she's been on a roll lately, we are SO BROKE.

But everyone has to operate in the red in the real world, yes, we are going broke, but we have to eat, and pay bills???

"Robbing Peter, to Pay Paul!" LOL??? if we don't throw the BHO team completely out to the country, the good ole USA is going to stay in the KRAPPER! and that is a proposition we better take very seriously. BHO is no Patriot, he's a taker, and the cost of keep the first family through its first term was listed as over 4 Billion dollars, prolly up to 12 Billion now, and BHO has killed jobs and literally allowed people to die??? (Benghazi), and yes BHO is the man who is/was ultimately responsible, with Hillary as his back-seater.

Back on Topic, the F-35 has put lots of people back to work, and is an economic engine that will no doubt keep LockMart, and its subsidiaries in business. The F-35 itself is a very fine airplane, and is being swiftly brought up to speed, it has more firsts on its list than any other aircraft in history, it is already a game changer, and causing the bad guys to spend money to counter it.

Obi-Wan is right, it is an economic engine to power at least a segment of the economy to productivity, and while its nice to make a profit, its almost as nice to "break-even", and that friends may be the best we can hope for in this BHO Depression, and yes, he has spread the love around the world, China as our largest trade partner was flourishing under GWB, and profits were astounding, BHO has reversed that course, and losses are now the order of the day.

So, staying in business, and in production is a good goal for the present, when BHO rides off into the sunset???(KAN'T WAIT TO SEE THAT) LOL if we get the Trumpster, we can all talk about being back in business. HRC, 4 more years in the KRAPPER!

thank you, Brother in Christ
I'm glad to see the exchange of opinions here is based on Western standards, when no "correct" "narrative" is demanded

Exactly so Master Jura, the Sino Defense is a real honest to goodness "FORUM", rather than the "guided discussion" that seems to be the order of the day on our sister site?? I myself was threatened more than once on DT with "banishment", and for criticizing the F-35 in fact, and praising the F-22.

Now the F-35 is no match for the F-22, but as of 10/03/2016 nothing else is a real match for the F-35. The electronic warfare suite on the F-35 will beat every near peers best, it does incredible things that we already have been astounded by, it will beat all of our own 4th Gens and 4+ aircraft, and this aircraft is in its "infancy", as far as development goes.

I'm so glad that you are back to posting here on the F-35 thread, and I know that your own personal high standards of ethics demand that you raise those important questions. There is no one on this forum who is more honorable, or who examines his own veracity with more integrity, and for that I salute you my brother. Jeff, BD, Siege, Vesicles, Asif, Obi Wan, Master Forbin, Engineer, Navy Reco, Mace, Aksha and Master Brumby, (where are those two characters???), Master Delft, Blitzo, Wolfie, even my buddy Sampan, who often disagrees with me? I could go on and on, and if you're my bud and I left you out, my sincere apologies, I really can't leave out B787 with whom I usually like to argue, or maybe he likes to argue with me???

anyway, I was a very vocal critic of the F-35, some things I still don't like? but it has come across with that "Raptor Sweetness", nice and easy to fly, few truly bad habits, extraordinary aerodynamics, flown to 105 degrees angle of attack and recovered with no real sweat, amazing little airplane, and so deadly to bad guys. This little aerial "Ninja" will make believers out of the first bad guy that underestimates her true capabilities, amazing, and as Master Jeff states, "and the beat goes on", sung by the Sino D's own Jeff Head???

but all new airplanes face "issues" as our good friend Morty Hanche has so well articulated., his articles out to be "stickied somewhere", LOL.
