The best part will be the launch of two 052D's:

1) only to launch two 052D's but flooded full dry dock;

2) to build two more ships at current 052D's spots, and launch all four ships at same time.

I think what is more likely, is that after the launch of the two 055s (flooding half the drydock), the divider in the drydock will be lifted, the two current 052Ds will be shifted to where the 055s were built, the divider will be put back into the drydock, and then two more ships (likely 055s) will be built where the two 052Ds currently are.

The two 052Ds will then be launched with the divider in place (aka flooding half the drydock).

I can't see four ships being launched at the same time, because that means half of the drydock won't be able to be used for assembling ships and it would be a waste of time and space.

Is that why you've always been asking for updates about the 055s at Dalian and whether they've been launched?
That is to say, you think it's "too good to be true" for two 055s to be launched at the same time?

If so, then I think you are looking at it the wrong way. Instead, you should be asking yourself when was the last time any shipyard in the world had built two destroyers in the same drydock at the same rate/stage before. The two 055s at Dalian were obviously built simultaneously -- we could see it when the first pictures of the 055 modules at Dalian emerged in 2016.

From there, it made sense to assume that the two 055s would likely be launched simultaneously since they were being built in the same drydock, at the same pace as each other.
Now, it may turn out for whatever reason like safety, that they may end up staggering the launches of the two 055s where both are floated but then one is launched into the fitting out pier and then the dock is drained and then the process is repeated for the second 055, but at this stage I don't think that seems like a likely way of doing it.


So for now, just sit back and relax.

A dual launch of the two 055s is not a big deal nor should it be a surprise -- what should have been a surprise for you was the fact that they had gone about building two 055s in the same drydock at the same pace. After all that is what led us to where we are.

I think the dual launch of those two Type 055 would be a VERY big deal, as in 'the dual launch of biggest warships so far'

Well as far as bragging rights or whatever goes, sure I suppose it would be an impressive deal.


But the fact that they built two 055s simultaneously in the same drydock over the same period leading up to it is the much bigger deal really.

of course simultaneously building two 10k in one dock is a big deal now, as big as ... USN New Jersey+Wisconsin in Philadelphia Yard in early 1940s?
