Looks like the hull is largely painted... It could be launched as soon as next week. I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time.

I think I read (not sure Xingengcao at Twitter) that launch is expected on 28. June afternoon.

Many of us have.

It will be a big day for the PLAN...and for all naval enthusiasts.

I am interested to see our speculative thoughts on the number of VKLS cells confirmed, as well as other speciications.

Either way, she will be the most powerful Chinese surface combatant and something that will be...in terms of pur armament...on par with the heavier western designs.

I mean the Chinese have already clipsed the armament on the Daring and Horizon classes of western Europe in terms of pure armament.

They have the US Burke flight II, the S. Korean KDX IIs, the Japanese Atago AEGIS DDGs, and of course the US Tico class cruisers in terms of pure modern armament.

You could include the Kirov and Slava Russian designs...but those are older designs and though heavily armed, probably not up to the same modern sensor and capability standards.

Anhow, it will be the most heavily armed Chinese surface combatant...and they are making it clear that they will build numoerous of them. Ultimately the Japanese and Koreans may have 6-8 of their heavy vessels...China is building these four at a time.

The US will ultinmatley have upwards of 100 heavily armed AEGIS vessels and that is the only power that the Chinese will not catch up to with this design.

But cumulatively, with the Type 052Ds and the Type 055s...and when you consider the Western Paciic...it is clear that the Chinese are going to reach a certaain sense of parity in terms of numbers of very good, mordern surface combatants with the US and it allies when considering the western Pacific alone.
