Took a long unnecessary way to get to the point... thats how discussions lead to nowhere and misunderstanding when people not read with attention and claim things that are not written. With what I am not pointing at you!

All I was asking, if someone has profound background info about some hints from the last two years, that 055 might feature IEP... nothing less nothing more. I didn't claim that I have any further evidence for that. So for me the question was not irrelevant, but after seeing the result...not worth all that long discussion.

And as I see it now, all explanation why I was asking my first question, was a pure waste of time... Taught me, not to get into such discussions in detail in the future.

According to 052D and 054A yes I regard them as evolutions.

To answer your question (and you have been very patient!), which has probably been indirectly answered in other ways through this long discussion -- the first batch (or first variant) of 055s are not expected to field IEPS, but it is highly expected that 055 will have IEPS in a subsequent batch/variant.

Well, you could put 160 VLS on the Type 055 (but it's not like you'll usually travel with all those missiles in peacetime), and putting too many missiles on a hull can be a very bad idea (for an extreme sample, see the ROCN's Tuo Chiang FAC, there's a very good reason why they didn't build anymore after the first one in 2014).

The PLAN is now getting the lion share of the defense budget. The PLAN is not only expanding its naval fleet but also its air component as well. The SAC is now working exclusively for the PLANAF as both the new J-15's and the J-16's are going into the PLANAF inventory and not the PLAAF. And you have to combine all of that with the rapid expansion of the CCG. This is the result of the tensions in the SCS and ESC and the US pivot towards Asia. This expansion also shows you that China's naval technology is maturing.

In the meantime the army only has about 6000 MBT and half of them are aging Type 59 and other older models.
