Two RN Type 23 Duke FFGs (Kent F78, Westminster F237) 1-350

I am building two new Duke class frigates for my eventual Royal Navy Carrier strike group. I alread have two Type 45 Daring Class DDGs, and two stute Astute Class SSNs

I sold my HMS Invinciple class group which consisted on HMS Illustrious,a Duke class and a Daring class, and a Trafalgar Class SSN in 1/350 scale.

My group will consist of the PRince of Wales, The HMS Dragon and Duncan Type 45s, the HMS Kent and Westminster Type 23, and the two Astute class SSNs.

But the two Duke class, Type 23s are being built now.

What follows are the existing pictures to date, including the boxes, the paint schme, the instructions, the White Ensign after market detail set for exacting photo etch railing and sensors, and other equipment, made to fit these models specifically, and some pictures of where I am at with the models.

I will add more pics as I go and detail out the models.

The Royal Navy maintains 13 of these vessels active. They plan to begin taking them out of service from 2023 through 2025 as the new Tye 25 and Type 31 FFGs come online in that time period. Eight Type 23 and 7-8 Type 31 (maybe as many as 10. The Australians will buy 9 Type 26 and Canada will buy 15 Type 26 as well to modernize their FFG fleets.

Building of models by pictures. is is what I have accomplished so far. LOTS of details left...these are very detailed models, and the after market adds many intricate parts. These will look very good when complete:

I have the main weapons fore complete and the main deck houses, including the hangers...but a lot of detailed equipment, sensors, more weapons, etc., etc. including the helos.

There they are to date.

I am not as fast as I used to be, but I will post pics and comments here until complete.

Some more detail work on the various dek houses...lots to go.



Some clean up and touch up to do on these deck (as always) but we will get there as the work progresses.
