Given that a powerpoint presentation is supposed to be -presented- alongside speech, instead of being a textual document... How is anyone going to know what happened during the presentation? No mention of any recording of the presentation.

people already boycotting american stuff
i guess apple sales gonna drop more next year
if they push more china might have to take taiwan just cuz
Yes, Chinese sentiment towards American products (and Canadian as well) will most certainly take a hit as they should, but like I said before, let's chill. Let's not talk about war or anything like that. I trust China's leadership will handle this. Ren Zhengfei is PLA material; he didn't get Huawei to where it is by panicking and making stupid decisions. Let's be mature, calm and collected and just take note of this event. In the end, holding a finance lady with no mention-worthy engineering capabilities does the US no good at all when China's 5G is ready to plow them over.

Probability increased significantly. Hilary would have engaged China in SCS by now.
America's been distracting its people with constant wars for 100 years. If China doesn't start it, the US will. The only people preventing a war might actually be Trump.

Look at everyone now suking Tillerson just because Trump said something bad about him. Being Exxon executive and war monger doesn't matter anymore. People love militarism.

Probability increased from 0.5% to 0.8%. War's not happening. America picks wars with little countries with no air force; it doesn't mess with countries that can hit back. This discussion is getting ridiculously out of hand and when you talk about nuclear war, you're open to getting moderated here. Just chill. China will handle it.

It's not conspiracy theory that the US practices a lot of dirty tricks. Are you denying those? In response to SDWatcher, are you saying the US never accused people of treason without evidence?

(Jura the following is not addressed at you)

Examples of McCarthyism happens in wider society to this day and US mob mentality is ever-present in all US societies. A person could be murdered by other's for supposed crimes which they are 100% innocent of. A recent example would be the sub-human neo-nazi who murdered a protester using his car by running her over. The "man" convinced himself that she was a Communist and a traitor. This is a microcosm of what the US society allows to thrive, evidenced by the growing numbers of stupids. Sure the justice system has arrived at the only sane conclusion that the act was murder and convicted him as such. But the point is, dirty tricks are practiced by the society if not endorsed by the government itself. None of this is conspiracy or surprising or unique to the US so no one should hold the US to any greater standard or expect more from them. So many Asians do because they've bought into the whole "freedom and liberty" bullshit that all with more than two working brain cells can see through.

It's about time Chinese started to re-evaluate donating so much money to those western companies. If the effect from all this is we stop spending hundreds of thousands on piece of shit Maseratis and LV handbags and overpriced Iphones, there would be more money left over for better value: Performance Chinese products! It's mostly China in the non-western world that support the profit making margins of western corporations. Without all those profits, Mercedes could not make a car better than a $10000 Cherry like they did 50 years ago. Chinese need to realise that it is us supporting them, not the other way around! Stop spending $1M on sending children overseas and donating that money to Western nations. What can be learned is more or less done more than a decade ago. Some parents have too much money for their own good. It's not like an undergrad degree from a western university is any good these days anyway. If they want to spy and learn certain technologies that are still unavailable in China, only post grad positions and research institutions may offer those. There's real opportunity for the Chinese government to create markets to facilitate new Chinese industries. Baby formula is a great example. If they can guarantee Chinese citizens from dodgy food producers, Chinese citizens wouldn't be forced to spend hundreds of millions on Australian formula.

If what comes out of this is more Chinese spending power being redirected from injecting all that cash into the west and back into China and other developing nations, then great. Small price to pay albeit an unfortunate one for the CFO who would lose her freedom. I'm far more concerned about the "suicide" of Zhang Shoucheng. Dirty tricks played there yet again.

Canadian authorities said Friday that the U.S. government believes a senior executive of a Chinese telecom giant lied about her ties to a Hong Kong company that tried to circumvent trade sanctions against Iran.

The revelation came during a bail hearing for Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of Huawei Technologies, who was

Saturday at the behest of U.S. officials who seek her extradition to New York.

A lawyer for the Canadian Justice Department told a Vancouver judge that Meng misled banks to believe her company had no connections to Skycom Tech, which tried to sell American computer equipment to an Iranian mobile phone company — a move that violated U.S. sanctions on the sale of American goods to Iran.

Meng told U.S. banks that the two companies are separate operations, but Canadian authorities said American investigators believe Skycom works as subsidiary of Huawei.

"Ms. Meng personally represented to those banks that Skycom and Huawei were separate when it fact they were not separate," prosecutor John Gibb-Carsley said. "Skycom was Huawei."

No decision was reached Friday and the bail hearing was scheduled to resume Monday.

Meng faces up to 30 years in prison in the United States, making her an extreme flight risk, according to the Canadian government lawyer.

Defense attorney David Martin said his client would submit to electronic monitoring and that Meng wouldn't skip bail, which Martin said would bring shame to her family and country.

He pushed back against the prosecutor, who said Meng is too rich to be allowed to go free.

"The fact a person has worked hard and has extraordinary resources cannot be a factor that would exclude them from bail," Marin said.

that a Huawei partner, Skycom, offered to sell Hewlett-Packard computer equipment to an Iranian company, which would violate sanctions on the country.

Reuters later reported that Skycom records showed

maker in the world.

Meng has said Huawei sold Skycom in 2009.

Appearing in a downtown Vancouver courtroom on Friday, Meng looked calm, wearing a green sweater and pants and waving at supporters in court, according to reporters on the scene.

Meng, 46, is the daughter of Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei, one of the most powerful businessmen in China. She is considered next line to run Huawei.

Her arrest has strained already-tense relations between Washington and Beijing in the wake of President Donald Trump's threats of increased tariffs on Chinese-made products headed to the U.S.
