..that's ex-USS Kitty Hawk in the background. She's the only USN CV held in reserve.
Ans she would be a strong carrier to this day.
But as time goes on, and the guys who understood how to operate and maintain her boilers gets to be a smaller and asmaller number, it will become more and more difficult to ever bring her back.
I expect that when the JFK is launched, and the Nimitz is taken out of commission, that she will become the reserve carrier.
There are going to be people well versed in operating any Nimitz class carrier for decades to come.
Each time one of them is decommissioned, I expect it will take the place as the "reserve" carrier as time goes on.
If the need is there in 6 months can be ready ? have we some delays for USN Reserve.
And CVN disadvantage other CV with nuclear propulsion after decomm. u don't have a CVN ready... they are defueled so normaly some years in peace time 3.5 but surely even more minimum a year for to be again operationnal.
The best solution but dangerous would be keep the CVN with uranium in reactor surely a CVN close RCOH or Decomm. have for about again 6 month - 1 year of uranium.
Exist pics for Refueling reactor etc... for French ships i have never see only enough far détails no visible.
This operation is do to Newport News or reactor compartment moved out ?

I doubt it..probably closer to a year to 18 months.
The ships has been de-fueled. they don't remove reactors at Newport News. They do that in Bremerton. Enterprise is being stored at Newport News because for some reason it is not being towed to Bremerton as originally planned.
Exist an list with combattans in reserve now ? i have see on sat views CV ofc and mainly Perry, the 5 first Ticonderoga with Mk 26 retired possible, also Spruance the last not too old, BTW a stupidity have retired thes two types some had only 20 yeas ! and removed MK-13 on Perry and SSNs without Sub Harpoons
Please Popeye make me think... what shipyard (s) do RCOH for nuclear submarines i know Porstmouth, Bremerton/Puget Sound also eventualy to Newport News ?
Considering 56 have need RCOH, 35 LA reactor service life 13 years minimum possible now 20 ? as Ohio ( 18 ), Seawolf ( 3 ) saying in average 15 years then all the years do 4 in anytime in RCOH and on GE 43° 4'44.00"N 70°44'3.00"O
i see 3 in 3 Dry dock open and one ? in a covered dry dock ? so very possible only Porstmouth do RCOH but it is less convenient for boats rattached to Pacific Fleet need to pass by Panama... and in more majority based rattached to she 35/56 ! Atlantic Fleet possessing 9 on 13 Virginia which don't need RCOH.
Ofc historicaly majority of military shipyards are alaways on Eastern and Mexcico Gulf coasts - now only Replenishments ships build to San Diego - during WWII very few combattants no CV were built to the Western coast and no BB only one during WWI but strucked to

In addition to the Ford and its trials, the US Navy also launched (in April) the USS Tripoli, LHA-7. This is the second America class and sister ship to the America, LHA-6, which has already been delivered.
Air centric. Now well deck. It can do air assault very nicely with helos and Opsreys, but has also been designed to be a Sea Control, or pure CAS carrier with up to 20 F-35Bs stationed on deck to do that role.
Nice looking. The Ford grabbed the headlines and the lime light...but you can bet other nations see that the US is building up its own carrier capability fairly quickly. One of these with 20 F-35Bs and some sort of AEW capability, would be the match for almost any other carrier available.
