"past record China is eunuch like " ? Are you sure you didn't mess up Pragmatism with eunuch-ism ? China was simply pragmatic. Armchair generals like you and me can run our mouths as much as we can BUT decision making at the topmost echelons within a nation, especially for a nation as big as China, would need to be taken in consideration of overall national capabilities and level of strength. A war torn, poverty stricken China's decision for the past two hundred years would seem Eunuch-ian or taichi or whatever to some, BUT for me, they generally took the right decisions most of the time. They were pragmatic most of the time. China has never lost, in my books, to anyone after the CPC came to power and i'm fairly confident that they'll win.
As for Huawei and Trump govt - IT IS THE BEST THING TRUMP HAS DONE FOR CHINA !
Banning US suppliers is the best thing trump has done. It has created a challenge, a taunt, a sense of urgency etc for the Chinese to realize that full vertical integration of technologies are a cornerstone for sovereignty and proper superpowerdom.

Mark 2019 as the year China decided to slowly wane off the US udders and decide to chew the thorny leaves. It must grind. Surely the 5G national rollout may be hinderd for two years BUT certainly Huawei and ZTE will be stronger than ever in 2022.

Thanks to the Trump administration.

Same way the Chinese Space Station program owe some thanks to the China hater Republican called Frank Wolf.

Does China have Balls ? YES !
If it did not, it would never have walked out of the trade deal. The Trump administration's decision to ban Huawei wasn't out of the blue. They already drew up the plan an year ago. Certainly China must've taken note with the ban on ZTE that Huawei too could face the same impediment.

My question is - Assuming it is highly likely China knew that Huawei could be targetted by the Trump administration, Why did China walk out of the trade deal ?
Because , somethings worth more than money ! Like pride, dignity etc

They'd ban certain companies or make it tougher than already is for US companies. As for banning these technologically rich corporations - It all depends on short term and long term strategy/ interests. China prefers to tighten the noose slowly and watch them give up without much of a hassle. Like Amazon.

"Huawei’s Hisilicon unit, which purchases U.S. semiconductors for its parent, has been secretly developing back-up products for years in case Huawei was one day unable to obtain the advanced chips and technology it buys from the United States, its president told staff in a letter on Friday."
