The newest ones should be the most capable. F-15K is probably the most capable one right now, and F-15SG will be the most capable when it comes out.

That depends on what kind of capability are you looking for.
If its for air superiority, the USAF F-15C is the best.
For multi-role then its probably the F-15K or F-15S for South Korea and Singapore, respectively.

of course f-15k is the most powerful right now compare to those israelis n american earlier model.i think f-15e is better than f-15k.koreans just received those bird (not all) n they will take time to efficiently, effectively to control those birds

I think the Strike Eagle is a very capable aircraft. I do not think the US would allow McDonnell-Douglas to sell a superior aircraft to any other nation. Now whatever modifications the countries that own the aircraft do is their own business.

Personlly, because I'm biased towards the USN, I think the F-14 Tomcat was the best fighter the US ever produced. Plus it was manned by the best pilots ever. USN Naval Avaitors. Hey the Iranians are very good also with the F-14...Love the old USN paint scheme's..I lived that life!

I belong to that generation which use to wach Topgun over and over again fast fowarding those "dull" parts...must confess that Tomcat is the best looking US aircraft...

But if looking that F-15 thing...would it be nice if someone would post a some sort of basic data on each of these new F-15 variants, like which engines and avionics they have...so that we would have something concrete posted to base our comparisons...

I love the music in Top Gun..I can hear it now!...Believe it or not I worked in a building, AIMD Paraloft, right next to the real Top Gun at NAS Miramar in San Diego from '86-'91 when I retired. A lot of the scencs from the movie were shot in Top Gun's hangar...Top Gun is now located at NAS Fallon NV...We use to call Top Gun .."Pop Gun".

In a dog fight..My money is on a Tomcat. USAF pilots ,in my experience, don't take the chances USN/USMC pilots do...No guts..No glory!;) Plus USN squadrons have way cooler nicknames, Black Aces, Dam Busters, Pukin' Dogs. Tophatters, Swordsman, Jolly Rogers, Black Knights, Checkmates, Grim Reapers, Checkertails, Red Tails. There's plenty more..:)

A mix of air-to-ground ordnance, including precision-guided munitions
Computer and Targeting Systems
The F-15K possesses advanced computer, display, protection, radar, and targeting systems:

Avionics suite: Honeywell advanced display core processor (ADCP)
Cockpit-display technologies: seven-color liquid-crystal displays, two upfront control panels (flat-panel), joint helmet-mounted cueing system (JHMCS), and wide-field-of-view heads-up display
On-board protection systems: Lockheed Martin ALR-56C(v)1 early warning receiver and Northrop Grumman ALQ-135M jammer
Radar: Raytheon AN/APG-63(v)1 radar:
Air-to-air and air-to-ground modes of APG-70 radar with additional sea-surface searching/tracking, ground-moving target tracking, and enhanced high-resolution ground mapping for long-distance target identification
Improved reliability and maintainability
Third-generation targeting and navigation systems: forward-looking infrared (FLIR) and infrared search and track (IRST)

The Tomcats were probably one of the best aircraft ever made by the US. The Iranians slaughtered the Iraqis in the air war and they even conducted an attack against an Iraqi air base that destroyed nearly 43 planes on the ground. Anyway, back to the F-15's. Is there any reason why the F-15 isn't fitted with a TVC engine? Wouldn't that make the bird more manuevarable?

f-15 ACTIVE, woth canards and tvc. american equivalent of su-37. of course, addding tvc engines would require airframe change, which would require more production f-15s. thats why the f-22 is comming out.those canards are actually an f-18s tail surfaces.

Well, that thing certainly doesn't look as nice as the the Su-37.

What is with all the countering and equivalents? Why does each nation try to develop weapons similiar to those of their rivals? Why doesn't any one nation just step out of the box, and design something truly innovative and original?
