The 100th Raptor is here. DELIVERED ON TIME.

It is a milestone that will help keep America's warfighters safe and secure. And we're just getting started. With a need for 400 Raptors, warfighters know that when they are called upon, they'll be backed by a fully lethal, survivable fighter jet.

The F-22 Raptor. AIR DOMINANCE DELIVERED.

I'm curious as to where you got the 400 number? To best of my knowledge the total order is 183 F-22A's through 2011.

Probably he rounded up the 381 number... USAF is still sticking to its guns with that, saying it needs that many machines... so yes, its a need. Not likely it will be fulfilled any time soon, though.

It's in todays washington post.

Anyways, it's not going to be too far away considering that the first 100 are already delivered.

Last time I looked the PLAAF were not flying any F22's so why is this thread here?

Given the tone of the original and last posting I suspect flame bait.

production has nothing to do with actually having the money to buy them which is the real issue here. the USAF is so low on funding that it will soon drop B2 fleet. the funding problem is all over Janes as well as the USAF own magazine.

actually the quick production is a problem, because once the orders is done. the production line will go out of work, the workers and machines will have to be reallocated to other production (can't pay workers for doing nothing right?). and any future production of F22 will become very expensive to pool the resources back into the production line.

imo, this is really the only reason to consider exporting F22, so as to extend the life of the production line to until the USAF could afford more planes.

anyone oppose my view? because i haven't follow the development for some months...

oh, almost forgetting the report on earlier planes has defective design and will cost millions more to fix.
