It's still a FAC. Putting all the machinery that high up above the waterline increases that damages that even smaller missiles like ATGMs will do.

Any high speed vessel below frigate will unavoidably have machinery spaces extending far above the waterline. So i still think it's a good trade off, for her tasks and purpose.

    Not for corvettes.

The Visby has engines below its flight deck.

A couple Blue Arrows to the rear would likely stop the Hsin Hai dead in the water.

    “Mainland experts” and Global times
    It’s a propaganda article.
It doesn’t need to be a Uber fighter just enough to keep the Mainland at bay.
In a one to one based on what we know of J10 vs What we know of F16V it’s a fair matchup.
J11 is a flanker derivative yeah it’s a better bird as is J20 but near term it’s good enough.

So basically, you agree with the article's assessment on jets.

Except it's obviously not a handful of F-16s that keep the Mainland at bay; it's the desire of a peaceful reunion between Chinese peoples.

What keeps them at bay is the risk of ignition of a full scale world war with the US.
The way this is framed is to make it seem like a cake walk. Those F16V are vipers in more than just name.
