Why did the Communists win the Chinese Civil War?

Heh, looking back at this thread, I'm amazed by the patience I had with that Geographer guy.

Dude had zero interest in actually learning something, he just wanted his preconceived notions justified.

Famines were a nearly annual occurrence before the PRC. In contrast, modern China hasn't had a famine since 1962. Even the decade leading up to the GLF were amazingly beneficial for the vast majority of the Chinese people, and this guy couldn't figure out why the people supported the CPC!

Hope this guy is out there fuming at the success of the CPC today!

I could smell his loaded political question and ideological bias a mile away. His interest and intentions were not to learn but to force his "truth" that CCP was evil and KMT was a force for good and couldn't accept the historical fact that KMT didn't win the Civil War because it didn't have the support from the poor Chinese peasants that made up the majority of Chinese population. The dude was on a historical revisionism crusade that failed spectacularly.

KMT is so corrupted that its army was not properly feed even at the end of the war as most money ends up in the pockets of the few high ranking military officials and top leaders and well connected families. That's why Japan can defeat KMT even after 1944. When KMT tried to recruit personnel for its military, most people would flee. The reason is that they know they wouldn't make it to the front line due to the fact that KMT is so corrupted that these new recruits would dead before reaching the destination. Moral is extremely low for KMT army.

Just compare the performance of KMT defectors after civil war in Korea War and during the Japanese invasion, KMT defectors perform remarkedly well during CCP's leadership in Korea War. You can't treat people like shit and expect them to fight for you. KMT is a lost clause when Chiang's son was forced to flee Shanghai when his attempt to crack down on corruption backfire and those well connected families threatened to hang him.

Not to mention the nationalists lost some crucial battles early on in the civil war because they refused to help each other.
