That's a very complicated question, and I don't know whether it's actually allowed because I can imagine lots of people flaming over it.
The way i read it, it all started with the Mcmahon line, a neutral zone of small pieces of land that bordered India and China, set up in order to ensure peace between the two nations.
However in the 60s India's government became belligerent and occupied these lands, building military bases on them, just like they did with the Portugese colony of Goa, with no international reprecussions.
After this there was conflict between the two nations, which erupted in small skirmishes between the Indians and the PLA, the war ended quickly and the PLA took most of the territory in the Mcmahon line.
Also anyone who implies that China stole land from India is incorrect, this land originally belonged to Tibet, and the Chinese claim to it is based on the fact that China annexed Tibet and therefore all territory belonging to the Tibetant state is inherited by China.
India's claim to these lands is based on the British claim, the British claim that they 'discovered', even though there were Tibetan people already living there.
