Video/Computer Games

@ Bltizo, solarz;

To make it politically right: this is a "training software" instead of "game", there is no "civilian retail version" yet.

It is for the sake of politically right, the game is traditioning "red Vs blue" (all PLAs) style, no american or animals were abused during the process.

"Politically Right" is the No. 1 doctrine of PLA, you can find it anywhere there is a banner of slogans.

Previously, they use Counter-Strick 1.5 as the "training software".

Thus I say, it is a good start.

i like that "no american or animals were abused during the process" part

as for cs 1.5 as training platform, it's hard for me to imagine soldiers training with a game that allows bunny hop and adjustments of gravity, and finally squatting to take a sh!t when aiming a gun. i'd think the firing squad has a better use from this game by training with awp_map

Yes, that's why this new "training software" is a good start - count in the fact that it is developed by Chinese software company, it is a even better prospect.

BTW, I thought you (generally second person "you") read Chinese and already knows the name of the game.

Its name is 光荣使命. For the sake of political right, I don't think they would even bother to grant it an official English name (it's PLA's training software, remember?) I personaly think "A Glory Duty" would do.

Edit:

Just read BP's quote in another news thread, they actually give a good English name for it!

Glorious Mission - It is truly more meaningful.

PLA soldier's trainning FPS game:《Glorious mission》/《光荣使命》. I know some ppl had opened a specific thread to discuss that domestic PLA trainning FPS game before, but why ppl always focus on meaningless debate like who's the enemny, relax it's just a trainning program.
Bad news is i miss original thread.
Good news is i found latest game images and clear promotional video:

They seem to have used plenty of motion capture for their cut scenes, but I have some reservations about the actual gameplay animations.

There's a new ace combat game coming out soon! :D

I suppose it was a bit much to hope for J-20 to be featured but at least maybe I thought J-10...?
Anyway it looks pretty awesome as all ace combats do, and it's set in the "real world" (lol). I suppose everyone's capitalizing on the "realistic" scenarios popularized by COD in recent years... As expected it features a russian mercenary as the antagonist and as expected it features the russian aircraft as opfor.
It has PAK FA as the enemy super plane near the end too apparently.
Graphics look good too
Here's to hoping for J-20 in either the next AC, or DLC in this one :D

Is that T50 at the very end of trailer? Unstealthy loadout?

Well that solves the problem of potentially "bash" Russian fans suggesting that T50 is not stealthy enough while wooing major US customers F-22 still kicks, at the same time.

For that, I hope J-20 and anything Chinese, NOT TO show up in the game.

Well it is inevitable that western fighters are always portrayed as the protaganists and russian portrayed as antagonists. I don't quite care whether they are featured in the story at all, it's whether you get to fly them that's important.

Not sure if it is appropriate for this thread but I think it is quite interesting to share.

A Chinese game studio in Wuhan has recently become a hot topic on Chinese internet. The studio has been developing a RPG game for PC for 5 years and recently released some screenshots and video clips of it. The story background of the game quickly caught people's attention.

The story began in the 66th year of the Showa period (1991 which did not exist in this real world) when Japan had almost bought out the USA, presenting the players a picture of the "imaginery Showa America". Then an "apocalyptic event" destroyed the human society...

This was posted in some other thread, I forget which one. I give it A+ for originality and concept, but the gameplay looks to be just another 3rd person hack'n'slash, which is pretty disappointing.
