U.S. to Overtake Saudi as Top Oil Producer: IEA

LONDON (Reuters) - The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world's top oil producer by 2017, the West's energy agency said on Monday, predicting Washington will come very close to achieving a previously unthinkable energy self-sufficiency.

Irrelevant. Who thinks anyone that drills for oil is in it to lower gas prices and make less profits? This oil is solely produced so it can be sold at market prices. Watch when this happens oil and gasoline average prices will be higher than ever. Oil is geo-political power. Like the US is not going to be involve in the world oil game when Americans become independent. They also say today most of the oil that comes out of the Persian Gulf doesn't go to the US. So why is it so important in US foreign policy? If you want to believe the hype then it just means cheaper oil for China who'll buy what the US doesn't. The news is meaningless because what it just comes down to is US oil companies make more money and nothing else.
