SSBN is more expensive than carriers

extremely sophisticated and secrecy around these are more than any other asset in the Navy

Boomers as they are called are formidable weapons of war

hopefully never used but there to show strength through deterrence

deep seas long range patrols are the corner stone of any SSBN deployment

China should work on 12 x SSBN with 2-3 deployed at any one time

1 in the Indian Ocean, 1 in the Northern Pacific Ocean and 1 in the Southern Pacific Ocean

and even in close to home waters around the South China Sea/East of Philippines

I am not going into possible PS nature of the image, but there are various other details different from previous 093 subs. The leading and trailing edge angle of the sail seem different. The rear fin seems to have a more curved base. And the notch in the sail, Frankly, looks to be too fine to be random damage.

Yeah, definitely has some of that A26 sail design philosophy. Though the A26 sail also seems to be concentrated a lot on making the whole sail narrow at some point. The 093 image doesn't seem to imply that, the notch only seems to narrow the sail at the front of the sail base.

Here's an image accentuating possible and likely differences between older subs and this new photo.

There is a discussion in a Chinese show commenting the small hump on the 93b is unlikely VLS as the hump is not too tall and long. Surface ships can carry the antiship and cruise missiles.

The main job of 93b is hunt opposing subs.

So, they said the small hump is most likely for towed array sonar and additional sonar arrays on the side of the hump, increasing it's ability to detect opposing subs.

if you're talking about 093A, then yeah, the small hump is most likely for towed array system. There's been some articles explaining that idea in more detail but I can't remember where I read then. 093B has not yet been constructed, so we don't know what sort of hump or VLS is might have.
