What is the rational behind having the ratio of two type 071 to one type 075?So, if PLAN really wants 8 075s by 2025 without building new 071s, the ratio between these two types would be 1:1, which doesn't make any sense, does it? I believe PLA has a time frame to solve the Taiwan issue around 2027-2030. 8+ 075s and 16+ 071s, plus older amphibious ships and various modified civilian ferries, will be the minimum requirement.
I would say type 075 has bigger advantage than type 071, in that it has a larger helicopter fleet for landing assault, only one less LCAC than type 071 (need confirmation), can carry more troops and armour vehicles due to its larger displacement.
Also helicopter beach assault has the flexibilty over LCAC and swimming tanks, in that it can change flight path through weakest shore defence sector, and also they can land behind beach defence line, avoiding brutal head-on beach assault.
Also type 075 can position itself further out at sea without compromising the time between launching assault to beachline due to speed of helicopters.
