Is there any new batch of the 071 under construction right now?

There is a ship with a fat cropped bow that is in Hudong Zhonghua now, and such bows are characteristic of the 071. This is likely to be the export one for Thailand.

On to another subject, only semi-related, given the troubles with real estate conglomerates, I am starting to doubt whether the sale of the old HDZ shipyards to real estate developers and its subsequent closure is still going to hold true. If they are going to build as many 075s, 054As and 054Bs as they can they still need this old shipyard. You also have the background of record breaking ship orders being made, and a potential sustained new ship demand both civilian and military, for the next few years.

Good pictures guys. Do we know anything about potential usage doctrine? For example, what capabilities will it add for non-amphibious missions i.e. sea control, recon, ASW, etc?

Would the well deck have a role for non-amphibious missions such as launching unmanned ships?

The crackdown on real estate companies is good news. For the purpose of doubling China's shipbuilding capacity, they should keep those Hudong shipyards. They should even expand Guangdong shipyards so that they can also build 075, and 054Bs.

There is a large ship under construction in drydock, but it could be type 071E for Thailand.

There is no news that there will be a new batch of type 071 to be built for PLAN.
So, if PLAN really wants 8 075s by 2025 without building new 071s, the ratio between these two types would be 1:1, which doesn't make any sense, does it? I believe PLA has a time frame to solve the Taiwan issue around 2027-2030. 8+ 075s and 16+ 071s, plus older amphibious ships and various modified civilian ferries, will be the minimum requirement.

Could have 076 by then.
