The 4th Type 055 Destroyer just entered service according to info.

As DDG-103 PLANS Anshan of China's Northern Theater Navy

Or he just made a joke, saying that he bought a 055 destroyer model on November 11th Shopping Festival. However, the Type 055 #103 and #106 ships are all ready for service. Maybe the Navy does not intend to announce it to the outside world.

Actually from the picture of 055 and 052D side by side it looks like 055's panel is no bigger than 052D
They are different variants, each for type 052C, type 052D and type 055. Type 346B radar for type 055 destroyer is bigger in size.

  • Type 346: First naval version with a large S-band array sandwiched between two rows of C-band arrays, utilizing air cooling system and identifiable by the curved surface of the cover of the radar array. Installed onboard

  • Type 346A: Development of Type 346 with increased number of T/R module and increased range, utilizing liquid cooling system and identifiable by the flat surface of the cover of the radar array. Installed onboard

Is there proof that the Type 346B radar is bigger in size? From the picture below I don't see the difference in size compared to Type 346A.

Note the rear pair of 052D and 055. I think this is the picture @Tiberium is mentioning.

Definitely bigger.

On the 052D, the arrays are about 5 windows wide while the on the 055, the arrays are about 6 windows wide. This is remarkable because each window might be about a meter or less. Furthermore the IFF bars on top of the arrays are different. On the 055' they are much bigger and thicker.

Type 346A has a second subtier to that. The first batch of the radar has an external field calibration probe. The use of this is to recailbrate the array when modules are replaced internally.

The second batch has the radar without the probe, giving the array a clean look. This means the calibration method has been internalized into the array. These changes would have to be done on the modules themselves, and that the modules would have changed from the first batch. These methods should allow one module to read the radio field of the other. Changes to the modules could come as a set, including refinements and resolutions to previous problems, so there might be other improvements to the modules.

I tried outlining the Type 346 on both 052D and 055. Looks like the same size to me.
