Professor Canrong Jin talking about future of PLA at Hong Kong. He previously revealed the existence of a hypersonic missile with terminal manoeuvrable warhead prior to the 2019 National Day parade which turned out to be DF-17, so I would seriously consider any hints he drop. He said:

1. J-20 is comparable to F-22 and superior to F-35.
2. Type 055 is the most advanced surface warship in the world. Arleigh-Burke class is not comparable to it. Zumwalt is more advanced than 055 in many areas, but in the real world it's in fact useless.
3. Given a few more years, China will have 10+ "cruisers" in service. In this case cruiser is most likely referring to 055 unlike the destroyer designation of PLAN.
4. Given a few more years, China will have 3-4 EMALS CATOBAR carriers in service
5. He seems to believe J-20 will be navalised

In the same panel but not in this video he also said there exists a new advanced road based ICBM that is superior to DF-41.

Speaking of videos about 055, I find this one to be the best and most educational:

Who is the guy with the toy car collection?

An interesting detail I saw in that video is that the Type 346B on Type 055 is depicted as a multi S/C-band radar. Therefore, this class retains the legacy fire control mechanism for HHQ-9.

Jin Canrong is not reliable on military matters.

Platform on platform comparisons are some of the most useless comparisons one can make. One must consider the systems and logistics enabling the platforms. No doubt the J-20 and 055 are formidable platforms/systems, but points 1 and 2 on their own are meaningless.

Could you please stop posting information, rumors, heresy, images, fan art, and videos from dubious, sensationalistic, and fanboy sources? SDF isn't a place for that kind of thing.

130mm gun can fire smart shells, which have a longer range and greater power than common shells.

The missile can achieve full coverage of ship-to-air, ship-to-sea, anti-submarine, and ship-to-land firepower

The Construction of the 130mm gun appears to me to be most unusual for a Naval weapon. Typically naval guns encapsulate recoil cylinders and recuperators mostly inside the turret, behind the mantlet, so only the barrel sticks out. This is done for a variety of reasons. These include:

1.shifting the center of gravity of the elevating mass to the rear to allow the trunnion to be placed as far back as possible without unbalancing the elevating mass. This allows the breach to move as little as possible as the gun elevates in order to simplify loading and ramming arrangements And facilitate a compact turret.
2. protect working component against sea spray
3. enable the weapon to be more easily removed form the mount and turret for servicing.

On this weapon it appears both the recoil cylinder and recouperators sticks a long way out of the turret, more like a typical land artillery. The conduits for the working fluid for the recoil and recouperator Are also exposed. Besides obvious recoil and recouperatiNRG cylinders There is also a third cylinder protruding from the mantlet. The purpose is not clear.

the fact that the Exterior portion of the barrel Has a major step in it is also unusual. the fat part may be a water jacket to cool the breach end of the barrel to allow a higher rate of fire. If so it would be somewhat unusual for the water jacket to cover half the barrel but not the entire barrel. The fat part could also be part of the mount, and the barrel recoils by sliding telescopically inside the Fat part. Again, it is usual for the mount to support the barrel this far out of the turret.

How capable is Type-55 compared to US destroyers in terms of armament?

Can this ship carry quad packed SAM missiles? Without quad packing short-ranged missiles. The number of missile it can carry could be very limited.

What about Tomahawk cruise missile style long range ground attack missile? Is that available?
