Hi Deino,

The 052 modules marked there actually look like the superstructure modules for the two ships already in the dock. There is definitely another 055 waiting to be moved into the dock (you can see the blocks laid out in the dock for it to sit on as well as the hull modules next to it) but I don't yet see hull modules for another 052.

I second this.

The 052D in the drydock clearly lacks its topside superstructures. Meanwhile, the fact that we see topside superstructure modules for 052D at the staging area is suggestive is suggestive that it is for the 052D in the drydock.

If we had any pictures of additional 052D modules in the staging area then it would indicate there is another 052D in the works, however we don't see that.

So IMO we see "only" 4 055s and 5 052Ds in that picture.

I think the superstructures on the side of the dock were meant to be placed on the two ships on the dock, so it doesn't mean its a ship.

It reminded me of pieces for the ship model kits.

So they floated the Type 055 and Type 052DL forward after the launch of the 2 x Type 052DLs

Wow they did that last time as well

However last time we got a photo of it

They flood the dock and bring them back, anyone got the photo from last time?

So now the forward dock is free to start next set

Question is are they going to lift the structures from the dock side or completely start new units?

Good observation

I agree it’s not a new DDG but parts of the one under construction

We have seen higher resolution photos showing those parts which have sat there for a few months waiting for the DDG in the dock to be floated forward, now DDG is in position for the superstructures to be lifted into place

Thanks for the replies on the observations on the Destroyer builds as shown in the latest image from Dalian shipyard. I too thought it was a bit premature, to see those few miscellaneous modules and to conclude they were for a 6th 052D. ;)
Anyway, its a very impressive site to see so many large surface combatants being built now!
My next question is how many 055's and 052D's are being built as of now at the Jiangnan shipyard? :)

That is what the gantry cranes are for over the dock. They lift the module from the dock side and into the dock.
