Key word here is "meaningful." For that, look at the proposals for the next gen frigate competition. Lockmart dropped out completely because they realize their LCS design simply cannot meet requirement. Australs keep having to lengthen their LCS boat in order to accommodate the missile counts
funny how you used "........."
in lieu of "Jan 17, 2019"

by now the brochure is gone,
the image hosting site I had used is gone, but found the picture on my external disc hahaha:

why bother?
it's the configuration the Pentagon could've ordered almost a decade ago, and now it looks like it's offered again:

so? tell me why the Pentagon operates unarmed LCSs instead
I've been following this LCS circus for years, I've read most of texts on it available in Internet, chest-thumping, detractors, official, whatever,
and I just don't know

oooohhhh PICTURES of GUNS and MISSILES and STUFF is basically your argument-___- What are those missile types? Are the amount of the types provide tactical advantage against a near peer or peer? Are there radars installed that would allow the ship to independently track and shoot at a tactical distance against an enemy equivalence type etc. I know the answer, that's why I reemphasized the word "meaningful."

Hi all;

I´m Juan, I´ve readed you for a while, but I didn´t write here before. I´ve tried to read all Type 055 topic (not finished still) before asking, but some question arise when deeping in the knowledge of this class of ships.

I´ve a question, reading the excellent posts about Type 055 propulsion and taking into account the Type 055 only have TG for propulsion, and (IMHO) this scheme is not the most adequate for low speed transit; Is really the Type 055 a "fast escort carrier" ship?. If it is, can we speculate the number of CV for the PLAN following the total number of Type 055 in commission??.

Thanks in advance!.

Ban hammer for the bot.
Bots tend to be unable to ask specific, relevant or on-topic questions.

Now, with regards to the actual question.

1. We don't know the future order of battle for PLAN. We can - and do here - speculate on this, but at the end of the day, there is no outstanding information to make anything more than an educated guess.
2. We cannot directly correlate the current number of ordered 055 hulls with the number of possible/probable Carrier battle groups PLAN will field in the future.

If you want my opinion, emphasis my opinion, not meant to be taken as authority, my guess is 9 or 12 ships in an initial batch run. 9 if you have three ships per fleet, a set of three for the North Sea, another set for East Sea, and third set for South China Seas. 12 if you have 4 ships per each of the three fleets. With the carriers, I am assuming one per fleet for now, CV16 for the North Sea, CV17 for the East Sea, and CV18 for the South China seas.

12 055 for an initial batch, but these numbers can be cut if 055A starts appearing, taking over the balance of the 055 original contracted numbers.

Type 055 can have TAS, Bow sonar and VDS and every other ASW equipment

but what a warship needs is a helicopter every submarine captains nightmare

2 x Z18C and a rotary UAV should be on every Type 055

the sheer lack of rotary wing on PLAN warships is very concerning
