Its weird why does China accomodate so few VLS cells in its frigate? New russian Gorskov class frigate have more VLS cells than type 52D destroyer. Is it cost saving mechanism or design issue?

... Gorshkov class has 32 Redut VLS for SAMs and 16 UKSK VLS for missiles -- that's 48 VLS total.
The improved Gorshkov will supposedly have the same number of Redut cells but 24 UKSK cells -- that is 56 VLS total.

052D has 64 UVLS total.

054A has 32 VLS cells and 8 slant launch AShMs.

Normal Gorshkov class displaces 5400 tons full.
054A displaces 4000 tons full.

The number of VLS cells in Chinese surface combatants is appropriate and normal, and not "weird".

Number of VLS cells isn't a (...) measuring game. It's math, math of intended purpose of the warship against its lifetime cost.

32 cells is essentially a world standard for a medium-sized, multipurpose warship. +don't forget about ASCM canisters.
Even fewer numbers are reasonable for ships with effective quad-packed missiles, not in the least due to fast/stealthy sea skimmers.

I'm more keen to learn the status of quad-packed development, of PLAN. Wonder anyone can provide an update, please. From their test ship?

There's a missile in development, "double-5", 50km at mach 5, said to be quadpacking.

People have been saying that dk-10 and FM-300 would be quadpacked, but at the end these missiles are probably never going to be navalized.

Beside this, nothing.

I sure hope Interstellar is talking about a different project but the second Pakistani 054A's keel-laying ceremony was conducted recently.View attachment 58682View attachment 58683

The 054AP are being built in a dry dock just slightly north of the 075. This is also the dry dock where the 056s are or have been made. Potentially the 054B might be built starting in the dry dock where the 075 is being made, however there is still Thailand's order of its 071E that needs to be fulfilled.
