I notice that the production of the first TB-37U MFTA is due by June 2021.

But suppose the Chinese Navy starts deploying their own version before this?
Where did you notice this? The TB-37U was in procurement since FY13. The first newly built ship to get the MFTA was DDG-113 FLIIA, that recently made news by shooting down an ICBM with the SM-3 BLIIA interceptor. All existing FLTI, FLTII and FLTIIA are being upgraded with the new sonar to manage obsolescence of legacy equipment, as are the CGs.

Type 054A+ (since 17th boat) have had a dual towed sonar arrangement: H/SJD-311 VDS with active search and a S/SJG-206 towed array for passive search. The same arrangement is present on Type 052D destroyers.

Ah, my mistake.

I was looking at the latest contract rather than the previous ones.

The doors that Tam is talking about, are not for torpedo tubes.

The torpedo tubes on 052D have a door that "slide open" to the side rather than "fold open" upwards, and are positioned slightly more forward of that location.

Don't want to sound like a jerk, but can you show me a picture of it ? Because I only see two doors, this one and the bay for the RHIB.

Never mind this is a CG based on the 052D spotted on the shipyards. Made many years ago when the first 052D has yet to enter trials. This shows where the torpedo tubes are.

Check the similar location on actual ship.
