Re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

Yeah thought that got mixed up there for a moment

Btw I was looking at this picture on my phone the one that A. Man posted and I read the lines of D4 we can see the bridge and the scaffolding sure fine

But to me now on my iPad that left hall looks empty there's nothing in there I can't even see a bow section of a warship

So the mystery left hall continues after building a few cargo ships and why would they retool build cargo ships and then switch back to D5? Doesn't make sense does it so I believe now that D5 is not in the left hall and it will follow on after D4 which was the original guess

Re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

Latest photo fresh off the press shows D4s hull painted, so launch won't be far away now.

The 052D programme is really starting to pick up pace now, with 172 commissioning, and now fourth launch soon. Let's see if JNCX can put out their fifth hull before year end.

No 052 D5 in Left Hall

Eh?......unless i'am imagining things, that looks like a cargo vessel being constructed in the left hall!

From my perspective, as viewed from the front.......left means errr on the left hand side.......:D

I can see now 052D No4 with hull painted now!

But seriously, the Chinese Navy are now getting into a higher gear with their warship production!..............i wonder how long it will be before we see pictures of a launched 052D at Dalian shipyard?

Re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

that's super interesting. The D4 photo I saw yesterday still has not had its hull painted. Now, we see it painted in today's photos or at least the front part of the ship.

Re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

The gun sure looks great ... is it really 70 caliber, as the Wikipedia says?

Well for a 130mm bore diameter a 70 caliber gun is 9.1m long...

I'm not sure what caliber the original AK-130 was, some places say 70 as well.

Re: PLAN Type 052 Class Destroyer

Small correction Jeff, D4 has not yet been launched. But the latest photos of it make me think it'll be launched within a month, two at most.
Thanks, Bltiz...I have updated my pic on the page and will also update the text to reflect the same.

I'm using this pic now for the latest build pic:

Depends on where you are counting "left," from.

Looking at that pic, the Type 052D is in the right hall.

Standing on the bridge of the vessel looking forward, it would be in the left hall.

Most folks will take the non-nautical perspective and count it from the perspective from which they are viewing the picture...for example, as seen in your pic there. From that perspective then, the left hall is the cargo vessel, and the right hall is the Type 052D.

that's why we use terms like port, starboard etc for those very reasons you mentioned because those are always seen from the perspective of the vessell not the observer..
