so according to my count JNCX + DL launched from 2010-2020

4 x Type 052C
+ 25 x Type 052D

thats 29 x DDG in 10 years or 2.9 per year

with 8 units being launched in 2019 alone

tremendous production capability matching Bath Iron Works and Ingalls shipbuilding on the Arleigh Burke programme

but remember that 8 x Type 055 were also launched within the same period

so by that calculation the 2 premier Chinese shipyards outperformed in terms of numbers and warship tonnage launched by their American counterparts
6 type 52C have entered service and 25 type 52D launched but sofar only 16 or17 are commissioned

The latest update is 19 type 052D and 052DL have been commissioned.

Their pennant numbers are:
type 052D
117 118 119 120 121
131 154 155 161 172
173 174 175
type 052DL
122 123 124 132 156
162

Also 133, 134, 163, 164 and 165 may be able be commissioned later this year.

I have a question about 052DL. What is the difference between 052DL and 052D? I only know DL version is longer but I have no idea about the details.

Thanks!

Better to refer to them as three batches, blocks or flights.

052D original

052D - 2nd block
Type 730 replaced with 'Type 1130
Type 346A radar revised, losing the external calibration probe for an internal calibration system.
A pair of ESMs near the Type 366 radar has been changed. Cylindrical oil filt er look to R2D2 look.

052D - 3rd block.
Helicopter deck extended.
Replacing Type 517M VHF radar to what netizens refer as 'Fly Swatter', possibly Type 520 designation.
SATCOM layout has changed with redesign of the top of the hanger.

Do you think the original 052D been upgraded to "2nd block" ?

Not yet. It would be easy to spot visually by changing the 730 CIWS to 1130 CIWS, the Type 346A radars would lose their windshield wipers (the field calibration booms for the AESA), and the cylinder shaped ESMs to the R2D2 shaped ones.

A few 052D, namely 120 and 155 are like in between the first and second blocks. They have the first block features but the radar has been upgraded to the boomless variant.

Surprisingly or perhaps not so, most if not all the 052C has all their cylinder shaped ESMs changed to the R2D2 ones, so I guess those things are important enough to do this effort. The earlier 052Ds have not made the change yet. These things remind me of the DWL002 passive radar detection system and the new one remind me of the VERA NG.
