052C/052D Class Destroyers

Brumby

Major
052DL is coined by English speaking posters on internet since "L" is for "long" or "lengthened" in English. Chinese prefer "G" as "Gai" stands for "improvement" or "modification" in Chinese. There is no official statement on its designation yet.

What is the Chinese character that is being used to describe the variant? Is it "高 or 長" or something else?

The original label for this picture says an Arleigh Burke was exercising with the USS Shiloh. Lol.

Compared to some other Ticos, the Shiloh has not updated her CEC, as she still only has USG-2 and not USG-3 --- see up in the tall pole mast underneath her TACAN, and she has not her gun fire control radar, as she has SPQ-A on a round dome, not SPQ-9B which is square --- see where the US flag is. However, notably and lately, ships in the US 7th Fleet has been getting a new ESM unit --- see straight down from where the funnels are --- other fleets don't have. It seems to be a new combat directional finder.

The Type 052D is sticking out like a swore thumb that camo needs to be changed
The Shiloh is under partial overcast, the 052D is in direct sunlight. The 052D looks conspicuous in the photo because the camera’s exposure is dominated by the low illuminance of the Shiloh, as a result the much more brightly illuminated 052D is overexposed. Even if the 052D is painted in exactly the same color and tone as the Shiloh she would still look conspicuous by comparison in this situation because she is under direct sunlight and the Shiloh is not.

Perhaps this is not widely known to people in Pakistan, but modern ships don't use visual camouflage due to the proliferation of radars.

It is futile to pretend you know better than the people of Pakistan. Modern war ships do in fact universally use visual camouflage because it cost nothing and there still can be circumstances where visual contact should be endeavored to be avoided for as long as possible.

Oh no, quite the contrary, I very much appreciate the great collective wisdom of the Pakistani people, a wisdom that has apparently been distilled and then manifested in the person of @asif iqbal, which must be why he's so ever magnanimous with his views and comments.
