A Type 052DL leaves the Lushun naval base in November 17 and heads to the Bohai Sea for live fire testing. It is very evident at this point that the PLAN has changed their trials procedures. You have one set of trials that are basically ship worthiness or shipyard trials, which are followed by the next step now being undertaken by t he PLAN themselves that deals with weapons and systems trials that include live firing. If firing and systems trials are accepted, the ship may go back to the base for commissioning, or head back to the shipyard to get a fresh coat of paint, then either get commissioned in the shipyard or goes back to the naval base for its commissioning.

This one is very similar to the other picture before at Lushun base. The background ships are the same, two Type 054A, two Type 051. This time, the 052D destroyer moored there is the 120 Chengdu, starting her official service with the fleet. Previously, it was a Type 052DL moored in that space, which had gone on for further trials.

#3 055 ( facing the sea in the pic) seems to be ready to go to sea trials..
Would have been better if the 052d in the dry dock were included in the shot too..
#23 is quite close to launching i hear..

161 Hohhot is settled in Zhanjiang base in her permanent home. Here she is close to her squadron mate the 167 Shenzhen and a couple of Ludas. The next destroyer to come here should be 162, and that would be a 052DL. Via LKJ86 at the PDF.

This looks like Sixth Destroyer Flotilla from the East China Seas Fleet.

155 is unique among 052D as it is a hybrid of Batch 1 and Batch 2 parts. Its mostly a Batch 1 ship but it has the Batch 2 Type 346A radar with the in-array calibration method.

Type 054A 578 and 601 are different batches, even if they both have Type 1130 CIWS.

601 has these changes.
The ECM unit on 701 is upgraded to the Type 726-3 unit used with destroyers.
Something is added on top of the ESM unit.
IFF arrays on the Type 364 radar.
SATCOM antenna is changed.
CEC antenna moved from starboard to port.
