Swedish giveaway! 70 Saab J39 Gripen anyone?

Because of the green party being a supporter to the Socialdemocrats in Sweden they have influenced the goverment to a total defence reduction that will send our defences down to the size of Switzerland in no time.

The latest move is to scrap 70 Saab JAS 39 Gripen multirole aircrafts or just give them to someone friendly. This will leave us with 100 of the most modern Gripen aircrafts. The most spectacular proposal is the removal of nearly all artillery leaving us with 4 haubits.... It seems that the greens intend to fight the enemy with carrots, weed and dreadlocks...

Sooo... anyone in need of a Gripen??

Pakistan would be VERY interested in obtaining these aircraft and even paying to upgrade them. Thing is, will the Swedish government allow such aicraft to be in the hands of the PAF since Pakistan was rejected before from buying the Gripen?

Croatia wants to buy Gripens anyway... If you are giving them away we could take 30 pieces from you… Do not worry we will even pay for upgrade to C/D variant so you don’t come out empty handed

Yes but the condition is that you must get rid of all the cars on your

I'm puzzled why Croatia wouldn't just go for some F-16's instead ?

Our government is considering F-16s and Gripens... Our migs are at the end of their service life and should be replaced by 2010. Military think that used F-16s are obsolete and that they should be modernized and would require extensive & expensive refurbishment to make them usable.
The Gripen is the cheapest to operate and the easiest to maintain... It can cost more then new F-16 block50 but in the long run it would cost less to maintain it... Plus we already have some Swedish military equipment like RBS-15 anti ship missiles...
So pilots and military want Gripens but government will decide based on the who will offer better offset deal…

We will give you the special package of Audio-DVD, cromed rear mirrors and Saab original wunderbaums as a special treat for the first 30 planes..

It was also close that those green cut the funding for the Neuron project as well... I can only hope that we will get a more down to earth goverment this fall.

Well... We have been able to sell you the Saab 2000 turboprop with Ericsson Erieye AEW, so why not some Gripens?

We will give you the special package of Audio-DVD, cromed rear mirrors and Saab original wunderbaums as a special treat for the first 30 planes..

It was also close that those green cut the funding for the Neuron project as well... I can only hope that we will get a more down to earth goverment this fall.

Perhaps i should change my Saab 900 to one Griben...wondering if they have similar size of spare tyres

May be I am looking too deep into all this, but if they get rid of the old jets, should they not replace some with newer models.
Maybe it will help to ease the tension between sweden and norway!
