Well, the source is given and I did not say it is one - in fact I tend more to a civil one - but since the post above showed it I just wanted to add the newer one.

The original source is publicly availabe satellite imagery via eg Sentinel. I dont think its just a shadow, theres definitely something in there. But same as Deino I dont think its a military structure. The most recent one has it seemingly sit in two halves.

Maybe its a Typhoon replica for an amusement park. (this is a joke)

The funny part is, that they released that single image showing the new dock with that "blurred out" something ... and that's for sure made intentionally since they know how eagerly such details are picked up and discussed to death.

I'm pretty sure in a few weeks or months we'll know ...

More interesting for me however is, when will we see the first modules and where of the new carrier!

At this stage I would be surprised if this was 076, but I don't see any of the usual definitive "this is it" kind of comments that you'd usually get from the usual sources.

I think it's useful to keep track of it, but I also think there's probably no need to share satellite pictures of it beyond the immediate PLA watching community (e.g.: onto Twitter) until we know definitively what we are looking at.

The currently-available speculated dimension for the 076 LHD based on some research papers is somewhere around 253 meters long and 45 meters wide (for the flight deck at least).

However, until more of the ship comes into shape, we can't be absolutely sure.

Don't know why the layout of the Island is still like the type 075 when other CGI make it way smaller... It will be interesting to see the progression in the shipyard.

Pop3 has refuted that allegation, which stems from this article written by someone that is using pop3's name to present his/her information as reliable/accurate:


According to pop3, only the 1st point is close to what he has actually said before. Everything else in the article (including the information on the 076 LHD) aren't from pop3.
