I'd like to request an update to the J-7 page to mention recent sale of 15 J-7 to Nigeria for $251 million USD. The purchase includes 12 J-7's and 3 JJ-7's. The J-7's sold to Nigeria is given the designation of F-7NI (NI for Nigeria?). This sale also gives us the export-sales figure of approx. $16.7 million USD per J-7.

Nigeria Spends $251M for Chinese F-7 Fighters After Oil Deals
Posted 30-Sep-2005 11:55

Reuters reports that Nigeria's government has approved a $251 million purchase of 15 fighter and trainer aircraft from China, further strengthening ties between the two countries after a series of significant oil deals.

The 12 F-7NI multi-role combat aircraft and three FT-7NI trainer aircraft and associated equipment will be bought from China's National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corp. The F-7/J-7 is an upgraded version of the Soviet MiG-21 interceptor, with modernized avionics and weapons and a slight cranked-wing configuration.

"The Federal Executive Council (FEC)has approved the purchase of 15 combat and multi role military aircraft at the cost of N32.7 billion or $251.3 million from China. The council also announced the immediate ban on the importation of used tyres into the country."

"...Council approved the procurement of 12 numbers F7NI Multi-role combat aircraft and 3 numbers FT7NI trainer aircraft and accessories from China at the negotiated contract sum of $251,377,395, 000 US and adequate provision for these have been made in the 2005 budget", he said.

I recall on our last forum, there were speculations that Nigeria was going to purchase J-8II's. For an example this article from May 2005 claims that Nigeria was going to buy F-8IIM:

"THE fortunes of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) are set for a rebound as the Federal Government has signed an agreement with a Chinese firm for the supply of new combat jets - the (Finback) F-8IIM - to the service."

With the selection of 12 F-7NI and FT-7NI's for $251 million USD, I think that closes the book on possible J-8 sale to Nigeria.

Also on the J-7E/G page on sinodefence.com the J-7G section has a typo.
"The J-7G also features a single-piece curving windscreen in place of the original three-segment windscreen. A new type of communications antenna is located behind the canopy. Additionally the J-7G might also be fitted with hamlet-mounted sight (HMS) for close air combat. As a result of the increased avionics weight, Chengdu engineers had to remove one 30mm cannon onboard, leaving the aircraft with only one cannon (60 rounds)."
Helmet it's spelled with a E.

hmm, it's interesting that countries consistently choose J-7s ahead of J-8s. For the avionics, you can mention that J-7G is now using KLJ-6E. I actually even have a picture of that.

Here's a nice one for KLJ-6E:

Is the KLJ-6E related to, or an upgraded vairant of the SY-80?

no, KLJ-6E is develop by lab 14 (NRIET), but SY-80 is developed by lab 7 (Leihua). I'm still waiting for the specs on these systems. These radars only got unveiled recently in the Beijing airshow.
