This is an article by two German authors, highlighting the inroads China makes into Europe and what special role Germany seems to play for the Chinese Europe strategy. The problems of realizing the Chinese objectives of improved relationship merit few sentences, but the list is complete. It should be noted that intellectual property theft and insufficient investment protection due to law enactment problems and corruption in PR China are seen as problems from a German point of view. Especially, the protection of German intellectual property is a core national interest that in importance can be compared to the Taiwan issue for PR China. On intellectual property protection does depend the future wealth and welfare of Germany, a land without significant natural resources. The unpersecuted violations of these by companies in China have a major negative backlash on perception of China in Germany.
