I'd mentioned before the Qingdao Naval Museum visible on Google Earth

36 03' 16" N 120 19' 20" E

Interesting place, I was there in 2003 - they have an ex USN LST ; the frigate Kunming (Chinese copy of Soviet Riga) ; destroyer Chi Lin (ex Soviet Retivy) ; and another ship I don't have details for, plus a 1970s vintage diesel sub (you can go inside it) and assorted old aircraft, ship guns and AFVs...all open to the public and worth rummage if you ever get there.

Have now dug out some pics, more follow shortly once I get them reduced in size, all historical of course but maybe of interest to someone.

First is general shot of the museum, second is the Type 237 sub. Its description board said...

Submarine 237 description

“The submarine 237 is an improved conventional power submarine of second generation made by our country with imported technology. Launched in 1977, it is 76m, in length, 6.7m in width. The submarine was commissioned in 1978, decommissioned in 1998 and then transferred to the Navy Museum.

“This is the first time submarine public show of the Navy. The submarine has the following characteristics :

1. Good concealment. It could submerge in 40 seconds, and had the capability of combat maneuver at 300m underwater
2. Striking power. The main weapon is torpedo. It could independently attack large, medium enemy ships and submarines, destroy the enemy’s port, base and coastal targets
3. Enduring self-sufficiency and durability. It could leave the base and carry out missions for a long time (6 days) such as patrol reconnaissance, anti-submarine and mine-laying etc”

Interior shots follow....
