I did see quite a few claiming that Dalian will begin the construction of the successor class to the 052D DDG in that exact drydock once the last 052D DDG has been launched.

But how true is this? Unfortunately, we have no idea. So it remains to be seen what will happen in that particular drydock after the last 052D leaves it.

Type 052D has been in service for 10 years: today marks the 10th anniversary of the commissioning of DDG 172, which is the lead ship of the Type 052D class.
