PLAN ASW Capability

Again total rubbish

You are bringing down the forum reputation

What are your qualifications may I ask ?

Do you even know what a laser is? Do you even know what a blue laser is? Tell me how laser penetration is effected by change in refractive index of sea water?

You are making a complete and utter fool of yourself, too many fan boys

Interesting.
Lot of talk, no explanation , or equation .

So, please, explain to me WHY it is not possible THEORETICALLY to detect an object in sea at 500 meters deep with blue light laser?

Again these reports are proving nothing

You cannot track a submarine from a satellite

The rubbish you have posted is basically google snapshots of some papers pretending like your clever

And trust me before you post on science do some research as I am published in National Academy of Sciences and many other reputable journals

Again like I said fanboys believe anything

How on Earth do you know this? lol

You are a bigger fanboy (irrational and illogical) for saying this than others who are simply relaying information and at least giving reasons. If we knew how it works, we wouldn't be here posting. These guys are just suggesting the idea that some have claimed this technique shows promise. No fanboying to be found. No one is claiming that navies are obsolete and China has got this all figured out and therefore is numba wan hahaha that would be real fanboying like the garbage found in other forums. So the reputation is still intact :p

BTW I'm not a physicist with deep military research experience and I don't know how magnetic anomaly detectors work either. Therefore the technology is fake and anyone who says otherwise must be a fanboy. Yet all these navies use MAD as part of their sub hunting equipment.

Ok so you just admitted you don’t know anything about physics

Yet you are still trying to answer and trying to look clever

You are not only a Chinese fan boy but also a ignorant and thick one

Too many wet dreamers jumping up and down on every little bit of fake news

The article that was included by Hendrik_2000 explain what they try to do.

The blue light (418nm ) has an attenuation length of 226 meter.
Means 13.53% of 418nm light can hit a target in 452 meters.

Now, if a satellite emitting the light then 20% of it will be scattered in the atmosphere both direction, the water absorb 13.53% in both direction.

Now, after all of this only 1% of the light can came back, if the target is a retroreflective mirror AND there is no anything that blocking the light AND nothing can reflect it back.

So, there is a -20db loss if everything is perfect.

Now, the waves will reflect back big part of the signal, water vapour/droplets will absorb and reflect it back, contamination in water will do the same, and finally the submarine is not a retroreflective mirror.

So, I think the guys try to use two or three lasers, tuned few nm away,( maybe ten) .
Due to refraction the different wavelength will have different path as they hit waves/water surface, so they hope to get better signal to noise ratio to see the faint return from the underwater submarine.

I don't think that it has real chance to success, there is too much rubbish in the ocean/air, but theoretically possible.

Nice Asif. Why are you angry? Are you tired of bashing and baiting Indians on other forums? Please improve your comprehension skills or stick with trolling on PDF.

During the Cold War satellites were tested for non acoustic anti submarine warfare (NAASW) this is not new

However using them for a practical purpose to detect and track a submerged submarine is a big fail

You simply cannot continuously track submerged submarine around the clock in open ocean with satellites

As a matter of fact you would even be hard pressed to track a carrier strike group on the surface with full spectrum of assets like UUVs, UAVs, under sea sensors, submarines, warships, aircraft and helicopters on a 24/7 365 basis let alone a submarine

Ahhh they should have consulted the brilliant Asif Iqbal before they went ahead with this research program that hopes to eventually become effective. And I suppose the rest of us cannot share the article or the idea on a casual discussion forum otherwise we're all China fanboys!

I suppose we're no better than the armies of moronic Pakistani and Indian fanboys that pollute the rest of the internet :D

Did you hear that guys?! stop sharing news! we're just Chinese fanboys! Anybody trying to use reasoning dressed with sarcasm to correct someone else's faulty logic is trying to look smart! :D

Don’t try and turn it

Sharing news is one thing dreaming and believing every moronic article is another

I have been here longer than any of you and have never been known to being anti-Chinese

Way too many Chinese fanboys on SDF now becoming more and more idiotic with their claims

Satellite cannot track submarines

Okay thanks for the change of tone, extending slightly more respect to us newcomers to this forum who are apparently too emotionally pro-China (there's a difference between pro-China politically and Chinese military developments because I'm politically pro-China and more skeptical while hopeful for Chinese military developments). Let me start by correcting this assumption. I never agreed to the article's claims. Merely engaged in the discussion that resulted from it being shared. Personally I don't have the background to make any judgement on the likelihood of success for such new techniques that are still being worked on as the article claims, so I have not remarked on that even once. I've only called you out for being too dismissive and aggressive on other members when you have offered nothing to support your posts and tone.

It doesn't matter if you've been known to be pro or anti whatever. What matters is you are trying to present your view as more valid than other members' despite not having the academic or working background to have any more authority than them. To add to this, they are not even deserving of being on the receiving end of your ridiculous judgement because Hendrik was just sharing an article. If you disagree with it, explain with evidence why the article is wrong rather than accusing the poster of being a fanboy and having nothing more to prove your point. You MAY be 100% right but none of us will know for a while and if you end up being right it would be out of sheer dumb luck than anything more, so your tone is unwarranted.

Being here longer means nothing. It doesn't make you more knowledgeable, it doesn't make you right, it doesn't make you worthy of appreciation. It certainly hasn't made you more respectful of others that's for sure. Calling people names and getting bitter because we've proven your thinking to be entirely faulty.

If you can prove why it is impossible to track subs using methods outlined by article, we'd all be very appreciative. Dismissing it as impossible is absurd, since you are an internet nobody like the rest of us. If China does have military programs researching this technique, I would think it stands to reason that their total knowledge FAR exceed your's because the people working on these have achievements that are grand while your's have been?

BTW zero substance and dismissive attitude is the fanboy one, not our's. It appears regularly on PDF and other military forums that are more hate spewing and shit throwing than actual discussion and substance. The quality of this forum is indeed better than most of the rest (thanks to better moderation). But it isn't us degrading it in this case because the other members are entitled to "dreaming and believing" the article without forcing it on the rest of us. Also this is your conclusion from the language Hendrik used and at this moment both opinions are valid but he's not the one saying this is 100% done.

I presume you can not assess my evaluation of the possible way to do it . : )

Interesting, the USA conducted experiment from aircraft to sense submerged submarine in 200 meters deep with laser.

Now, the Taiwan strait is around this deep.
